Thanks for the data.
One of the acute problems with the UK electricity system is that it is being run for profit by a number of boards of directors, who may not care about global warming or the energy crises, provided that it does not affect profits.
I note that SSE are making all the right noises, but are in some ways blackmailing the government and the taxpayers, into guaranteeing their future profits.
As I have stated before, critical infrastructure such as energy supply industries should never have been privatised. We are now paying the price for lack of forward planning and adequate investment.

It is what it is now.
We will ultimately have to rely on the government of the day and regulators to make decisions they think are appropriate in terms of controlling the commercial companies
The recent Energy Prices Bill which is now law gives some confidence the government is willing to intervene. It has legislated to break the link of pricing electricity to the gas electricity generation price, and to cap the price of the old non fossil fuel contracts that were far too generous for example. A small step in the right direction.
My MP is now heading up BEIS. Grant Shapps. Hopefully we will see more of things like this.

I was very pleased to hear that GivEnergy are planning to move at least some of their production from China back to the UK. Whilst I realise that many people mainly consider the price when buying such systems, I am always happy to pay a little extra to get a quality product, that is not supporting a country and regime that could turn out to be another Putin and Russia in the future.
@derek-m, I completely agree and I was generally very impressed by GivEnergy (not really knowing much about their products or operation) and how they are trying to operate morally, ethically and sensibly.
