Changes to Tesla Powerwall Charging Regime?

I have noticed lately that the charging pattern has been changing a little; whereas the charging from grid option would set the Powerwall to charge at a high rate until fully charged, this is no longer the case. Observing the charging cycle, there is a definite slowing of charge rate above 80%; this I think is to be kinder to the battery and extend life span. Just today, whilst there is plenty of sun about, I have observed that this ‘protection’ regime seems to have been extended to solar power charging too. I was a little surprised to find that my battery had stopped charging at ~80% and was then ‘resting’ so the remaining solar power was being sent to the grid. Very soon after, my Eddi kicked in and diverted ~3 kW to the Sunamp Thermino heat battery, Once that was fully charged, the Powerwall started to charge again and has continued to do so and will stop at 100% very shortly. Looks as though Tesla are attempting to Elon gate the life of the Powerwalls. Screengrabs attached. Regards, Toodles.

Lovely subtle pun!

I don't have a Tesla, but Growatt does this too. It starts charging at full pelt, then as it reaches higher levels of charge, the rate starts to drop. This happens while charging both from the grid and from solar.

Elon gate - legendary! I take my hat off to you @toodles

I read about this in a recent update, but I'm yet to witness mine do it. Yesterday and today (perfect sunshine), my battery has been fully charged by 10am.

I do have grid charging switched off (disabled) to force charging from solar - I wonder if this has an impact?

Unless I'm on a tariff like IOF, our battery sits between 70-100% all summer as we only use a small amount of power between sun down and sun up.

Samsung 12kW gen6 ASHP with 50L volumiser and all new large radiators. 7.2kWp solar (south facing), Tesla PW3 (13.5kW)
Solar generation completely offsets ASHP usage annually. We no longer burn ~1600L of kerosene annually.
