UK DIY Battery: SEPLOS 48V 200Ah x2 + Sunsynk 8K – Safe Installation for Garage Conversion

my To be setup system will be .
2* SEPLOS Mason 48V DIY
2 * 48V 200A 16S Seplos BMS
2 * 58V 400A Fuse internal
all of above is part of the internal "selplos" system, all within the unit.
arrived Feb 2026
Built and working fine ~ some learning but all done in 12hr for both.
All disconnected and powered off until DNO approval and my logic for setup correct
So this is a 48v 200A

2 * 16 MB31 314Ah Grade A Bundle (installed into 2* SEPLOS above)
giving home ~ 32kw

1* SYNK-8K-SG05LP1
This is the popular UK Sunsynk Sun 8K ECCO Hybrid Inverter

1* 3meter 50mm² cable RED. - will be cut to same length where needed
1* 3meter 50mm² cable RED. - will be cut to same length where needed

1* firexo All in One Fire Extinguisher (2 Litre / 2 kg) - Multipurpose Extinguisher for ALL FIRES inc
1 * fireAngel Optical Smoke Alarm 2-Pack - FA6620 10-Year Battery Smoke Alarms

above 3 for peace of mind

My Solar runs from an existing inverter in the loft ( 7 year old now) and I will never connect to these solar panels to Sunsnk inverter/this battery system.
Don't care about saving money on this long term, happy to have them both independently working.
I have done various scenario build modelling.

so requirements are

32kw will never be expanded - no desire, don't care if I pull from grid, this system will save money in long term and want it all install and forget. don't care to squeeze every penny out of system as its more a learning journey for future house than saving every penny.

will not be exporting any power to the grid, will not be MCS approved BUT need it UK regs safe.

want to have all cables within trunking/contained to meet regs/safely.
as system within garage conversion into study want to ensure I don't burn myself or anyone.

now my Qs

#1. is it better to have these 2 batteries connected together then connected up to the fuse/breaker etc..

independently from answer to #1, I have been looking to connect this to a busbar, the ones on amazon are sneaky as they state 300a but at 12v.
#2.1. Q - Sunsyk do a busbar ( Sunsynk-bb-300) at cost of £190. - this is expensive I feel but if best choice then will buy
#2.2 Q - Victron do a busbar called Lynx. , can this be used as better bang for buck
#2.2.1. Q if victron is a better choice then which model

busbar or not setup. looking to help on correct sequence on the positive side - I know I have added busbar to each Q below, if I don't need (another cost and failure point) and battery connecting together better then will go down this route. If busbar give more safety then will run down here

#3. Battery → Busbar / Lynx Busbar / Lynx → 200A DC FUSE → DC Isolator → Sunsynk

or

#4 Busbar / Lynx -> MEGA Fuse Holder (200A) -> DC Isolator -> Sunsynk SYNK‑8K

will add more Q into thread as it will help breakdown the Q & A better for me and others- Thanks in advance.

These are the busbars I used with our Fogstar kits. They are substantial, solid copper and well made.

We used a 40a bi-directional RCBO on a single dedicated circuit with 10mm cable in our detached garage consumer unit, which feeds back to the house.

@bash Thank you for the reply. I purchased very similar busbars from amazon.

BUT looking back, after delivered on webpage it states,

"The battery distribution block rated 250A when work in 12v circuit, and the battery terminal block can handle MAX 48V,suitable for cars, RVs, ships, yachts, etc."

which rang alarm bells as on 48v = what A rating do they give, which made me think = better get more help as these do not give me confidence based on above. = but I am here seeking advice due to this.

your posted busbar, do you have a link, also where did you install- within the home or in external garage/shed.

On a circuit like a busbar that has no resistance, the acceptable amps will be the same within that range of DC voltage. 

My Seplos cells are limited to just above 200 Amps max discharge (at the inverter), so I cannot see a problem, provided the cables are properly terminated. BTW, the voltage of fully charged batteries will be around 55 V anyway. 

Our battery is indoors. You really want to avoid charging the battery in subzero temperatures. But a garage adjacent to a home may also be a good option in south England.

@batpred We have 2 x Powerwalls housed in our ‘garage’ which is built onto the side of the house. Winter ambient temperature ~ 12 degrees C., summer rarely above ~30 degrees C. I have only ever heard the BMS start the thermal control system 2 or 3 times in 3+ years. First time I hear it, I thought What The ….? Charge/ discharge rates vary up to ~ 10kW occasionally. I think this ‘mollycoddling’ pays dividends in the long run. Regards, Toodles.

@bash provided some details on his setup on previous posts and there was some debate with @transparent

I can't find where (it seems good ol' Watson is having an off day)

These busbars are more than adequate. I run 3x15kwh packs on these, the are very thick and solid copper.

Ours are housed in our converted detached garage, all running perfectly. Unless your garage drops to very low digit Celsius you'll have no issues at all.

You don't actually need to use a busbar, you can just daisy chain your 2 packs.

I originally daisy chained my 3 packs and they ran fine, however I decided for completeness and ease of disconnection to rewire with a busbar, which also means I can remove a pack for maintenance if I need to, whilst leaving the other 2 running.

@bash I also am looking for busbar route. But if I did daisy chain mine, would I use for example.   

 

1M 50mm cable between all "battery daisy" connections and then 1m 50mm cable to "breaker/fuse" then into inverter.  SO each cable is 1m ( all same size) even thou the ones connecting to each battery will have lots of slack as then are just compensating for the length I actually need to get to wall mounted busbar

 

reason I ask is I have purchased the 50mm cable and was intended to use 1.5m * 4 (2*red and 2*black) from each battery pack to busbar, then from that onwards into fuse/breaker/inverter
