Ecodan Auto Adapt Options
Main controller in an unsuitable location? Provided with 3rd party instead of official wireless thermostats? Or maybe an existing underfloor heating system?
All possible reasons why your system might not be able to run Mitsibushi's "Auto Adapt"
Generally, Auto Adapt has superior control over the compressor and reduces cycling and improves efficiency compared to other operating modes because of it.
In January 2025 i set about replicating the functionality of the Mitsi wireless receiver, to allow me to feed in temperatures to the Auto Adapt algorithm from other temperature sensors around the house via Home Assistant.
I set the project aside for a while to work on some other things, but now have returned.
I have introduced two main features recently, standalone operation (no Home Assistant required) and integration for Shelly H&T Gen3's and/or Heatmiser NeoHub's to provide room temperatures directly into the Ecodan to train and operate it's in-built Auto Adapt algorithm.
It's not quite as polished as my CN105 project yet, so there's definitely still room for improvement and untapped potential, but here to make everyone aware of the possibilities and answer any questions you may have.
If it's ok to link... There is more info over on GitHub
Nice one
I have your adapter- does it run on the same hardware?
Have been using Auto adapt with controller in dining room but ability to try different sensor locations would be useful.
the other thing which might be interesting is setpoint ramping - the PID controller in my Ecodan seems to be quite aggressive and overshoots on startup - ramping setpoint on start up might allow a more gentle response???
Would ramping up the DHW setpoint help with DHW COP I wonder???
@travellingwave
Yes, hardware is the same - you don't need any onward connection to MELCloud for this, so the simple adapter only is sufficient. This is however a separate device, different communication protocol and socket to your existing adapter.

For heating look at if you are using "Normal" or "Fast" under Service > Operation Settings > Room temp. control > Mode as it adjusts the ramp up speed

I tried this method, it wasn't successful for me unfortunately - i found more success with Eco DHW Enabled + Quiet Mode and then Input Power limitation in the Outdoor unit as well (CNDM Plug)
