@hcas So the answer from Mitsu was:
To Confirm you can monitor the PAC-IF06 FTC5 systems via the MELCloud.
Would this be a suitable connector?

Hello,
Question on how Havenwise works with a Samsung ashp (Gen7 wifi connected)
Does it take over direct control of the heat pump flow temperature and bypass weather compensation within the samsung controller?
Does it use the samsung temperature sensor as the room sensor? (I have a remote wired one located in a better place away from the tank/controller)
thanks, Nick.
@nickhorne Good questions!
1. Yes Havenwise sends target flow temperatures to the heat pump so the programmed weather compensation curve (or water law in Samsung's words) is not used.
2. No it does not use the Samsung controller. For Samsung specifically (the only brand), we use a Shelly temperature sensor.
Hope this helps!

@hcas Thanks!
One more question - are you able to take in dynamic time of use rate from Octopus intelligent go? i.e. where there is a set low rate period overnight, but also slots outside of that time when Octopus decide to charge and EV and hence would want to run the heat pump.
@nickhorne Unfortunately not. We take the "normal" IOG slots into account. But not the ones you get extra outside of the usual times. That's because that information isn't available on the Octopus APIs.

@hcas Just wondering if/where Ideal might be on your development programme as I'd certainly be interested in giving Havenwise a whirl.
I was also wondering re the link to tariffs, are you able to take account of battery storage in terms of scheduling the heat pump operations, if not have you thought of incorporating this?
Thanks
Simon
Has anyone else had a problem with Havenwise "learning" when using the Mitsubishi PAR-WT 50/60 Wireless Controller for data collection.
I am not having much success and I am being encouraged to change to a Shelly H & T, but I am not inclined to do that considering the time, effort and cash getting the PAR-WT 60 installed.
For many hours the target temperature has been set at 23C with the PAR 60 reading 20C and the heat pump is hardly working .
(My normal choice would be a target of 21-22C and I have only increased it to 23C to see if it made any difference)
Why is the heat pump not being asked to do more to try to achieve the target?
It all worked well last year on Weather Compensation.

I'm not sure why the specific hardware would be deemed to be making any difference to what Havenwise is doing, or learning, from your system as it takes all the data from MELCloud, which would presumably still come from the the 'white box of tricks' that controls this. For clarity, who is encouraging the switch to a Shelley device? If it's not someone from Havenwise then I don't think it will make any difference.
In terms of what Havenwise is doing, I've posted elsewhere that in milder temperatures it controls the system by sitting idle for long periods and providing higher intensity 'blasts' of heat than a typical low and slow constant process, and I would imagine that this is what you're experiencing within the data. I don't know if one is more effective than the other, but you have the advantage of having a prior heating season done using weather compensation, whereas I switched Havenwise on from day 1 on my system, so you'll at least have a basis for comparison between the two.

@sheriff-fatman It is Havenwise who are encouraging the change to Shelly for local temperature data and I have pointed out that they were the ones who said the Mitsu wireless controller was a requirement. They refer to the "granularity" of the temperature data feed.
In many hours, the heat pump has never even approached the target temperature, even with a 3 DegC temperature differential (20-23)

Havenwise seems to be working here, as it should. (Just over a week in). I am, however, unimpressed with my COP. My once bad COP has actually decreased since handing over control to Havenwise.

Interesting, as I've got the same controller and haven't had any issues. Both OAT and internal thermostat temperature reports regularly for me and I would have thought that if there were any issues in this regard it would point to a problem with the outside air temperature sensor or the internal thermostat, both of which are independent of the actual control panel controller (which Havenwise settings override and are moved away via being set at the extremes from interfering with the Havenwise control).
It doesn't make any logical sense to me, as stated, but I don't doubt that the Havenwise team know more about the specifics than I do, and I'm not implying any criticism of them.
