As the site continues to grow and attract new users, we’ve had to ramp up security to protect the site and its users. As a result, we’ve implemented some new security features, especially around user passwords. We are also now aligned with third parties that will inform you if your passwords have been compromised elsewhere on other sites as part of data leaks to protect your account here, and you will not be able use that password on this site.

Something big is coming to Renewable Heating Hub!

Over the past five years our forums have grown into one of the UK’s largest homeowner knowledge bases on heat pumps, renewable heating and renewables, with thousands of real installations discussed, problems diagnosed, systems optimised and lessons learned.

The next evolution is about to begin.

In the coming weeks we’ll be introducing a major upgrade to the forums that will fundamentally change how people access and learn from this knowledge. Five years of community insight on commissioning issues, heat loss debates, system optimisation and real performance data will become far easier to explore, understand and use.

The goal is simple... help homeowners and consumers make better decisions and strengthen the knowledge infrastructure supporting the UK’s transition to heat pumps and renewable energy.

This is going to be a big step forward for the community.

I have a number of New Topic Reminders in my Inbox which I have not found the time to look at.

Could someone please explain why frequently, when I click on the link provided, am I just taken to to the Air Source Heat Pump opening page rather than the specific item? Is there a time limit on it functioning?

It is rather frustrating having to then search for the item

@davidalgarve, if the emails are more than roughly a month old, we we changed the linking parameters which may be why it's taking you to the ASHP as opposed to the topic link.

As part of the behind the scenes work, we're hoping to introduce new features to the site in the next two weeks that will make finding topics much easier because the current search functionality isn't great.

@editor I’m no longer receiving notifications of thread changes that I’ve contributed to. It improved for a short time, when you made the recent posts, but now tumbleweed. Perhaps something has reverted?

@andrewj, we recently ran a small database purge to improve site performance, which involved removing notifications from active users. I've checked and your account was one of those randomly affected.

The good news is you can easily find all the topics and posts you were following and resubscribe using the steps below:

I know that the notifications are being delivered now with 100% regularity and success rates so our behind the scenes work has been a success. It's just a matter of resubscribing to notifications for some members.

A quick heads-up.

We’ll be carrying out a major forum update next Tuesday, during which the site and forums will be offline for a few hours while the work is completed.

This isn’t a routine update... it’s a significant step forward for our humble platform and one that we believe will be genuinely transformative in how the forums are used and experienced.

There's no exact time planned for the upgrade, but please expect some temporary downtime while we implement the changes.

That's it, we’ve now rolled out a new backend on our forums that introduces a more intelligent way of navigating the platform. Over the coming weeks, we’ll continue refining and training the system so it delivers better, more relevant search results, helping you tap into five years of discussions, insights and real-world data more effectively.

As with any major update, there may be a few bugs or quirks along the way. If you spot anything, please flag it and we’ll get it addressed.

We’ll also be introducing additional features over time, so there’s more to come, and I'll update this topic when they're live.

We've also given the site a small makeover to bring it in line with 2026, and you should also hopefully see a performance increase too.

Most importantly, these new capabilities are only available to registered, logged-in members. If you’re currently browsing as a guest, you won’t be able to access them. Registration is completely free, and once you’re signed in you’ll also be able to follow topics, receive notifications and pick up threads exactly where you left off.
