@mk4 I’m green with envy - more than twice my February solar production; may I enquire the capacity of your solar array please? Regards, Toodles.

OK, sorry I didn’t get it…. we have almost 8kwp, half of them facing S/SE and half N/NW

I guess you know though that the grass is always greener on the other side!

We may have had a nice energy yield but we are facing a draught… last December, Athens was declared in a state of emergency as the water reserves level had dropped to 40% of what it should normally be. Fortunately we had a lot of rain in January and February plus some snow and the situation has improved.

@mk4 We have 8.1 kWp. but less than ideally orientated with some degree of shading at times. As to the rain, well …. we seem to have had our fair share lately! (SE England) Regards,Toodles.

It's my first year with solar on the current house so no precise years to compare it with. It has been a very wet February with most days seeming to be cloudy and not much solar so I was surprised to see we have generated over 200kWh, very similar to Toddles figure.

If your inverter can support two strings, perhaps you could have all the shaded panels in one string and the ones that are never shaded in another. We did this with our panels, the ones placed W/NW do not get much light during winter but they thrive in the summer, so we have them in a separate string.

BTW, I love your trailing signature, I’ve meaning to tell you for some time, but only after our last interaction did I get its full meaning. I guess humor is not my strongest of points….

@mk4 All 21 panels have their own Enphase IQ7a microinverter and these are sent as two arrays to the Tesla Gateway. 5 on house roof, 4 on flat roof, 2 on workshop roof and 10 mounted in the garden. Glad you like my sig. line😊. Toodles.

Just checking with you. Did your batteries dump all their charge in the small hours of this morning please and then didn’t recharge until the cosy cheap rate starting at 13.00? Mine did, for no good reason I can find. In the past there was an occasional battery calibration event, but I think I can remember being informed somehow when this was the case. Very odd.

I’ve also noticed they fully discharged, to 0%, rather than the 5% minimum charge level I set. I guess that suggests a recalibration.

@papahuhu Hello, err… no, I still saw some 32% or so battery capacity left this morning but, I had set my system to prioritise the solar supply yesterday morning as we have had several days of charging from the grid only to then send solar generated energy back to the grid later in the day! I have never seen any ‘recalibration’ messages or evidence of a full discharge that I had not set up myself. Regards, Toodles.

@toodles

This is it, but I never saw any banner. Maybe PW2 didn’t do it, isn’t the battery chemistry different if I remember.

Powerwall 3 Calibration

Powerwall 3 periodically calibrates to ensure optimal battery performance. Calibration ensures that your Powerwall 3 continues to operate accurately and efficiently for your home.

Note: The calibration process is normal and is not an indication of any issues with your Powerwall 3.

When Will Calibration Happen

Due to normal cycling of the battery during daily use, calibration can occur naturally and will have no impact on your system’s operation. However, if daily cycling is not sufficient, the system will undergo a dedicated calibration cycle every 30-90 days.

How to Know When Calibration Is in Progress

When your Powerwall 3 is undergoing calibration, you will see a ‘Calibration in Progress’ banner in the Tesla app. This banner will remain visible until the process is complete.

@papahuhu I think this is just a PW3 innovation then. Regards, Toodles.

It looks like a battery calibration operation to me. When my system (GivEnergy) does a battery calibration the reserve value of 4% in my case is ignored and the battery is drained to zero before doing a 100% charge.

Regards
