[Sticky] Heat Pump Books For Beginners: The Ultimate Guide to Heat Pumps, Bodge Buster, From Zero To Heat Pump Hero & Britain's Heat Pump Shitshow
Britain’s Heat Pump Shitshow is now available to pre-order on Kindle for just £2.99 and will be released on 7 September.
It isn’t an attack on heat pumps. Good systems work brilliantly, and the book gives the competent people doing this properly the credit they deserve.
It is an attack on the cowboys, box-tickers, vanishing installers and fragmented protection system that can subsidise a disaster, record it as a successful installation and leave the homeowner to prove that the bloody house is still cold.
I’ve tried to make it honest and entertaining. Unfortunately, the funniest parts are often the ones requiring the least exaggeration.
You can pre-order it here for £2.99:
Publication date: 7 September.
Thank you to everyone in our community whose knowledge, persistence and willingness to share the good, bad and completely inexplicable helped inspire it.

Posted by: @editorOur latest book: https://renewableheatinghub.co.uk/the-ultimate-guide-to-heat-pumps-a-comprehensive-resource-for-homeowners/
We're excited to announce the release of Bodge Buster, a comprehensive guide for homeowners on air source heat pump installations. This timely publication addresses the growing issue of substandard installations in the UK's renewable heating sector, a concern reflected in the rising dissatisfaction and doubt about the technology's reliability. Inspired by our own difficult experience with a heat pump installation and the numerous reports from the Renewable Heating Hub community, Bodge Buster educates homeowners on the critical importance of installation quality for the efficiency, performance and running costs of their systems. Packed with essential questions, practical tips, and insightful advice, this book is now available in paperback and ebook formats.
Please support us by buying a copy, and help us spread the word about Bodge Buster with your friends, family and colleagues, so that more homeowners can benefit from informed decisions and high-quality installations in their journey towards sustainable heating solutions, and together, we can create a standard of accountability where installers can no longer get away with shoddy installations.

It’s been out a few days and Amazon has already attached a rather fetching #1 Best Seller badge to Britain’s Heat Pump Shitshow.
Somehow, a book about badly installed heat pumps is performing more efficiently than many badly installed heat pumps.
A huge thank you to everyone who has bought it, shared it, joined the debate or complained about it before reading it.
Heat pumps work but there is quite an appetite for a book asking why Britain has surrounded this excellent technology with cowboys, contradictions, paperwork and complaints procedures that lead everywhere except towards a solution.

I bought it, read it, enjoyed it. Despite my earlier comments I think it should be compulsory reading for everyone in the industry, and everyone who is involved more generally in retrofit.
4kW peak of solar PV since 2011; EV and a 1930s house which has been partially renovated to improve its efficiency. 7kW Vaillant heat pump.
Thank you @jamespa
I really appreciate that, particularly given your reservations before reading it.
"Compulsory reading" is a pretty extraordinary endorsement and exactly the sort of response I hoped the book might earn once people got past the title and into what it is actually saying.
Thanks again for buying it, reading it properly and backing it publicly!

Interesting also to see his comment on the heating industry more generally which of course you alude to in the book.

Loved it. I am not one for history, but the history of British heating clearly has its audience! Hope it stays up there in the charts.
The garage turned hedge fund really nails it. Arguable whether that was ever needed (specially if it spreads). But anyway, if the ecosystem could not deliver a market bound by physics (and not enough grid level batteries), we must explore every inch of freedom that escaped MCS!
8kW Solis S6-EH1P8K-L-PLUS hybrid inverter; G99: 8kW export; 16kWh Seplos Fogstar battery; Ohme Home Pro EV charger; Vaillant Arotherm Pro 7kW; 100Amp head, HA lab on mini PC
@batpred thanks for getting a copy. Appreciate the support and glad you enjoyed it.
