It isn’t an attack on heat pumps. Good systems work brilliantly, and the book gives the competent people doing this properly the credit they deserve.

It is an attack on the cowboys, box-tickers, vanishing installers and fragmented protection system that can subsidise a disaster, record it as a successful installation and leave the homeowner to prove that the bloody house is still cold.

It’s been out a few days and Amazon has already attached a rather fetching #1 Best Seller badge to Britain’s Heat Pump Shitshow.

Somehow, a book about badly installed heat pumps is performing more efficiently than many badly installed heat pumps.

A huge thank you to everyone who has bought it, shared it, joined the debate or complained about it before reading it.

Heat pumps work but there is quite an appetite for a book asking why Britain has surrounded this excellent technology with cowboys, contradictions, paperwork and complaints procedures that lead everywhere except towards a solution.

I bought it, read it, enjoyed it.  Despite my earlier comments I think it should be compulsory reading for everyone in the industry, and everyone who is involved more generally in retrofit.

Loved it. I am not one for history, but the history of British heating clearly has its audience! Hope it stays up there in the charts. 

The garage turned hedge fund really nails it. Arguable whether that was ever needed (specially if it spreads). But anyway, if the ecosystem could not deliver a market bound by physics (and not enough grid level batteries), we must explore every inch of freedom that escaped MCS!
