Hi there, Ice Energy installed an IVT Greenline HT Plus GSHP for us in 2013. We have managed to get by without extortionate electric bills as long as we don't go above 18 degrees on heating and use our log burner as main source of heat. The hot water has always worked well.

In the past couple of months, our electricity usage went through the roof. Far more than in previous winters.

We are using around 60kwh a day at present.

Heat pump seems to be on all the time - an engineer has been round and has been trying to help but he is v busy. He thinks the water heating part of the heat pump is kicking in throughout the day and night which has sent our electricity usage through the roof.

I was wondering if maybe something is broken and the immersion is kicking in all the time.

I'm really really not technical. Would anyone be able to please recommend a GSHP expert engineer in the Midland region?

I dread to think how much our electricity bill for this month will be.

Welcome to the forums @johnbroome. I'll see who in my network can help with GSHPs. Which county are you in?

Thank you so much!

We are based in Derbyshire - close to Staffordshire and happy to see if someone could travel from further afield from the East Midlands or if need from beyond.

Ice Energy sold me a IVT Greenline in 2011, I share your pain, especially when electricity costs went from 8p/kWh to over 30p, we do exactly the same, heat the house to 18 and supplement with wood burners. We too cannot find a reliable and knowledgeable business to help maintain and fix our pump and we are also in the midlands. You can contact Zak at Alto Energy, zak.crozier@altoenergy.co.uk, the business that seems to have employed all the Ice staff, he was extremely helpful, and Alto supply spares for the pump, and they are good value.

If you know your way around the menu, you can enter the service mode and monitor all the various temperatures. This will tell you where the energy is going. For example, when out 3 way valve failed, it sent 50 degree water circulating around the heating system.  You can also review the fault codes, which can be helpful. Would be very interested if you find someone who is knowledgeable  and reasonable.

@johnbroome, I've just connected you with a highly recommended installer that will hopefully be in your coverage area.

@editor

Can you also recommend to me, please?  I live near Derby (between Derby and Ashbourne). My issue is with the mileage charge and the service cost of my installer, and I would like to explore an alternative.

@Morgan is it for servicing? The installers are based in Sheffield but do cover a wider area for installations.

@editor It is indeed for servicing. My current service agent and installer is from Newark, Nottingham.  I should also have mentioned that mine is an ASHP.

Greenline IVT Now Worcester Bosch have an inbuilt 3kw booster that you want to check is not kicking in all the time, we have been removing these systems for the last 2 years as it was getting harder to get parts, we look after around 40 of these for the MOD which we have been slowly changing for ASHP which are just as efficient if not better as these green lines often rely on the booster which is a kettle element not efficient at all.

@ashp-bobba Thanks so much for the info! Very helpful. I’ve realised we are having an issue where the pressure on the IVT keeps dropping - I’m wondering if our issue may be a failed expansion vessel.
