Configuration issues with 10kW Midea R32 heat pump
Posted by: @stevetWas it doing anything with my 28/14 and 50/-4 settings?
No, it would have been running on a fixed flow temp. You should now be running on weather compensation, using the settings you put in.
@benson has the right take on the Midea app.

Hi @Benson/@CathodeRay - thanks. I will not monitor, the useless App, it does not at least show I have a heat curve and it corresponds to my settings, though it has zero for any data. Probably explains why I have been sitting in a sweltering house. Is there any app that can give some data without having to hard wire it to the wall unit.

Not that I know of. It’s a regular complaint with respect to the midea.
Connecting something up to the modbus is the way to go, and then you can also change your curve settings from your phone/laptop etc. Lowest maintenance option would be homely which does it all for you, and does an ok job. If you wanted monitoring on homely and access to data you’d need to set up an installer account and link your hub.
@benson I believe there are quite a few of these installers about😉. It is a great shame that Homely don’t see fit to make the data more freely available to their customers. Toodles.
Toodles, heats his home with cold draughts and cooks food with magnets.
Posted by: @cathoderayPosted by: @stevetmine has all the Weather Mode Settings to OFF
You need to set the one shown in the photo you posted to ON, you will then get to choose which weather compensation curve (1-9), choose 9, that is the custom curve, the one on which we set the end points, and you are done. You may or may not need to turn the heating back on after doing that, sometimes changing settings turns the heating off. Check the main home screen to see whether it is on or off.
My first post on here so please be gentle!
From reading this thread, I believe WC has also not been set on our Midea 4kw ASHP (see photo) despite the installer saying this is how all their systems are set up. Does this setting mean it’s switched off?
Further, when I went into the settings, I found T1SetH1 was 35oC and T2SetH2 was 37oC. Am I right in thinking T2 should be lower? I wrote to the installer asking these questions three weeks ago, but no reply yet. Apparently, my queries have been passed to their technical team to review.
Our home is newly renovated and highly insulated so it has a low design temperature of 35oC at -2oC. Having said that, it seems to go full pelt to reach temperature and as ground floor is UFH in screed, it then overshoots and the heating turns off until floor cools once again. So the heating goes in cycles, albeit heat loss is low.
Any pointers would be gratefully received.
@richard-t-eco-home — welcome to the forum and the joys of running a Midea heat pump!
You are correct, the display in your photo shows weather compensation is off. You are looking in the right place, the WEATHER TEMP. SET (Midea-Speak for weather compensation) tab is where you turn it on. You need to set the second row, ZONE 1 H-MODE HIGH TEMP. to ON. You will then get to chose the curve, select '9' which is the custom curve, ie the one for which we set the parameters.

Taking three weeks to review basic settings they should know off by heart is ridiculous. And furthermore, those settings, or rather the second one, is ridiculous. Here is how you set the weather compensation settings, taken from the Freedom Installation Manual:
The actual setting in any given installation are determined by trial and error. Given your design parameters, your left hand end settings might start at 35°C @ -2°C (noting that 35 is a rather low value for the left hand end, but may work if you have UFH) while the right hand end could start at 30°C @ 15°C. You then run the system, note your room temps at various outdoor temperatures, and tweak the curve settings to get a steady room temperature that suits you.

So the heating goes in cycles, albeit heat loss is low.
This is classic cycling caused by having a high fixed flow temperature. Your installers really did not know what they were doing. Once you turn on weather compensation, that behaviour should stop, but do note that in normal operation, Midea units do use slow (around once an hour) cycling. But you should get the violent swings you are currently getting.
Let us know how you get on, and don't hesitate to ask any further questions if you have them!

@cathoderay thanks so much for your helpful and expert advice. I’ve just switched on weather compensation and will see how performance compares.
