RE: Say hello and introduce yourself

By Singlespeed, 6 days ago

I've been following the forum, watching the podcasts for a while as our heating definitely needed an overhaul. The house is a 1990 conversion of an old farm building which had storage heaters and imme...
Batpred RE: Minimum and Zero Disrupt Heat Pump Installations

By Batpred, 6 days ago

@l8again It seems you did very well. With our HG heat loss, we did not have anything proposed close to a SCOP of 4. Our heat loss is also outside the bands calculated based on 30 mins gas usage.
Batpred RE: British Gas vs Octopus Energy vs Heat Geek vs EDF vs Aira vs OVO vs EON.Next vs Boxt

By Batpred, 6 days ago

Just wondering how you went in the end? A guaranteed 400% efficiency including hot water looked pretty good, did you have Heat Geek do the work?
dgclimatecontrol RE: Cooling with air to water heat pumps

By dgclimatecontrol, 6 days ago

Its really a non starter unless designed that way to start with. Condensation will be an issue on any part of the system not fully insulated. You need fan coils with drainage although a mild cooling c...
Batpred RE: Vaillant Arotherm Pro vs new Plus

By Batpred, 6 days ago

That makes sense. If the heat transfer into a cylinder is better, the pump can be run at a lower FT, helping efficiency. In our case, the heat geek calculator was generally providing a low guaranteed...
Batpred RE: What is the Heat Geek Guarantee?

By Batpred, 6 days ago

Thanks, we also heard about the thermal store, to be used in combination with a cylinder I believe. It was described as similar to a combi, but to be honest, I could not see how, as our combi is 28kw...
RE: Growatt battery disconnected

By Eliuccio, 6 days ago

Morning folks! I can finally let you know that I have been installed a 100amp fuse. It was easy as my neighbour was not linked hence they did it straight away. Hopefully this will preempt any future o...
JamesPa RE: What is the Heat Geek Guarantee?

By JamesPa, 6 days ago

Thanks. That's exactly what I was expecting/hoping for if it does in fact fill a niche. I think it's been clear all along that where a standard cylinder fits that is a better choice, but as you say ...
RE: What is the Heat Geek Guarantee?

By Michael Waring, 6 days ago

@editor We've only installed one so far, a 60XS model, but it's performing well from a functionality point of view. That said, I'd always choose a standard unvented cylinder where possible. They're ge...
Mars RE: What is the Heat Geek Guarantee?

By Mars, 6 days ago

@jamespa great question as we’ve not seen a single mention of the mini store on the forums.
JamesPa RE: What is the Heat Geek Guarantee?

By JamesPa, 6 days ago

Since we have got onto cylinders, I was wondering if anyone had any experiences with the heat geek mini store in practice? It's obviously not 'ideal' but then neither is the world. Does it fill an i...
RE: NIBE 1140 - what is mean time before failure? Installed 2009 and now struggling to heat hot water

By AliRam, 6 days ago

Sadly we also have rodent damage to the hot water system but the immersion heaters have allowed us to isolate the leak and at least feed 1 shower. good news all round. I am most grateful. Thankyou ev...
