tepeo ZEB UK Support & Info Thread
Heat batteries offer another way to electrify home heating. They use electricity to build up a store of heat, which can then be released through a wet central heating system when the home needs it. Their main advantage is flexibility where charging can be moved to cheaper off-peak periods or times when grid electricity has a lower carbon intensity.
They are not heat pumps and they do not multiply the energy put into them, so suitability and running costs depend heavily on the property’s heat loss, the amount of heat that can be stored and the electricity tariff being used.
tepeo is one of the UK companies developing this technology. Its ZEB is a heat battery boiler designed for suitable homes with radiators or underfloor heating. It has no outdoor unit, but it does require an appropriate indoor location and electrical supply.
We have opened this thread as a place to discuss heat batteries generally and the tepeo ZEB specifically.
Questions might include:
* Whether a heat battery is suitable for a particular home.
* Compatibility with existing radiators, pipework and controls.
* Installation requirements and domestic hot water.
* Time-of-use tariffs, charging and running costs.
* ZEB controls, servicing, warranties and support.
* Experiences from households that already have one installed.
Post your questions and experiences below. Where manufacturer input is needed, we will either invite tepeo to reply through a clearly identified account or collect the questions and publish its answers. Positive and negative experiences are equally welcome. The aim is to build a useful, searchable source of practical information rather than a sales thread.
This discussion does not replace a heat loss calculation, site survey, installer advice or tepeo’s official customer-support and warranty channels. Please do not post personal information, account details or anything that could compromise the security of your heating system or home network.
Disclosure: This forum thread is not sponsored, funded or paid for by tepeo. It has been created as an independent community resource, with RHH retaining full editorial and moderation control.
