Makes sense to me and we all had cases where even if a product stops being supported by a manufacturer, it is still usable.

When a product stops being sold, the manufacturer is still expected to develop firmware updates during their warranty period. Those updates could be made available for other users, even if their product warranty expired. Products usually include mechanisms to only allow installation of manufacturer updates.

And when a manufacturer really ends support for a model, communities like Home Assistant can be a lifeline to extend its use.
