Signenergy AI Mode - How long does it take to learn a usage pattern?
Not sure how many Sigenergy users we have here but I’m looking for some insight into the AI Mode.
long story but our export tariff is not yet setup so we are currently in a use it or lose it situation with our solar and batteries.
we have an ASHP so when it’s on usage has been fairly high: so far I’ve been running the sig on a manual charge / discharge cycle to match the octopus cosy off peak periods.
the trouble is now spring is here our usage has plummeted and solar has rocketed so much so that I’m regularly seeing the inverter clipping out and our generation being massively limited. I’ve found myself putting the heating on and running dishwashers half full just to try make the use of the solar which would otherwise go to waste.
I think it’s still a couple of weeks or so away before we’re even able to apply to octopus to export let alone the time they take to process it.
I’ve switched to AI mode a couple of days ago but the forecast seems now to assume that we are going to use a lot of electricity so it’s being somewhat conservative with charging up the battery on the mains off peak.
i could of course just turn it back to manual and set it to be much less conservative but then we are at the mercy of a low sun day meaning we run the battery flat.
so what im trying to figure out is how long does the AI mode take to learn a new use pattern?
If I turn off the heating again and go to low summer use pattern how long before the AI mode figures that out and starts to not charge the batteries so much overnight on forecast sunny days?
a week, a month or longer? Anyone know?
Many thanks in advance….
I am definitely interested in this as I am considering a Sigenergy. How is the software integration could you unlearn it as soon as you are connected. We have had panels since January and only just got the thumbs up from Octopus so we wer in teh same boat lots of unnecessary usage just because!!!!
Kind Regards
Si

@Adam, how's it been going with your Sigenergy? Any updates?

I am curious how this "AI" works.
Is it all local (at the end of the day most data used is local) or running remotely and programing the inverter regularly like Solis AI's?
Solis claims it uses weather data but as the Solis Engineers keep asking me to have it off so they can troubleshoot some niggling issues, I am yet to see it doing that.
8kW Solis S6-EH1P8K-L-PLUS hybrid inverter; G99: 8kw export; 16kWh Seplos Fogstar battery; Ohme Home Pro EV charger; 100Amp head, HA lab on mini PC
I bit the bullet and got the Sigenstor 2x8kwh batteries and DCEV charger but due to installation issues and a dodgy plug on the AC side of the inverter it has been offline for a few weeks while we wait for our replacement inverter. Turns out water and electrics don’t mix well! got an extra 9kwh battery coming as well so hoping will be back up and running next week. paying peak electric prices is for losers!!!!!
The AI worked ok but was a bit unpredictable but will have to relearn my usage now the heat pump has kicked in.
Kind Regards

What is the AI supposed to assist with?

@editor apparently it helps optimise charging and discharging, max profit is popular but it does work the batteries hard. We will prob go back on self consumption when we are back on line

They seem to have kept it barebones?
Solis created a wrapper to their machine learning, in the form of an energy management system (Ems). You can easily set maximum charge and discharge rates, whether you want to export, etc. I just set the max rate possible...

@batpred yeah I have fully integrated the system into home assistant but the inverter went down before I had a chance to set up any automations. One cool feature of the sign system is that if someone creates a bunch of routines you can share them as a template. Also the forums are pretty active as well so loads of info there.
