Just gone over to Starlink and finally fast internet and downloads. But the Vaillant Connect no longer does. Anyone had similar? Is there a workaround? Vaillant have requested I do the usual - use 2.4Ghz band not 5. Reset this, reset that. Not working. 🙁

I dont have experience of Starlink but ultimately its just another internet service provider so much of the rationale which would apply to any other ISP should apply.

The things you have talked about are two separate problems namely

1. How the Vaillant system connects to your router (2.4 GHz vs 5GHz - ie wifi) and

2. How the router conncts back to Vaillant (via Starlink).

Presumably when you got your Starlink connection it came with a new router.  Have you set it up with the same wifi parameters as your previous router.  If not have you told the heat pump your new wifi parameters?  If you log 'into' the router you may be able to see whether the heat pump is connecting.

If the Heat pump is connected to the new router then the problem is either a Vaillant one - for some reason your credentials arent working, or a backhaul/Starlink one.  The latter is unlikely, but then Musk is an unlikely character.  Vaillant should be able to give you the information on either, they can tell if you are logged in/have failed login attempts and there is probably a simple diagnostic that could be run (eg a 'ping' test) to check connectivity with the Vaillant server.

I would start with the WiFi parameters but if you are sure these are right then you will need to diagnose further.  I may be able to help a bit more as I have a Vaillant myself and can look at what is visible vis a vis the connection.

PS - just checked my router, I can tell my heat pump is connected because it identifies itself as VR940-  followed by a very long string of numbers.

4kW peak of solar PV since 2011; EV and a 1930s house which has been partially renovated to improve its efficiency. 7kW Vaillant heat pump.

I have had customers struggle with Starlink and 2.4GHz embedded devices connecting too,
Several don't use the starlink router itself but bridge it with another because of issues on various types of devices (expect the most modern smartphones & laptops etc)

Some have overcome the issue, just repeating trying to connect over and over and others selected "SPLIT 2.4 / 5 GHz NETWORKS" and gave them different network names
