Octopus outgoing tariffs: Tracker, Fixed, SEG, Agile, Flux etc
Octopus have a number of different outgoing (Export) tariffs including:
Flux 24.39p (standard), 38.76p (peak 3 hrs), 10.01 (off-peak 3 hrs)
Standard Fixed 15p
Agile (1/2 hr ave) 16p ?? * wide differences from say 10p - 28p typical.
SEG 4.1p
Most people will need to look at their particular setup and usage to decide best option. e.g. whether & how batteries and management of exports enable maximum income.
In my case i'm currently on Tracker (daily rates) for import which is saving almost 30% vs standard rates and Agile for export.
import say 10000kWh pa
PV solar production say 5000kWh pa
export say 3000kWh (lacking data as hot tub used last year - which will not be used this year!!)
Because the Tracker savings are so big I don't think its practical to switch to Flux to get their higher export rates. Especially as cheap import rates are restricted to only 3 hours.
To maximise the Agile prices I need to monitor daily and constantly update the export times etc as I cant see any way of managing this from the Givenergy inverter/battery app. Or am I missing something?
so I think I should switch outgoing to Standard Fixed outgoing
any other thoughts/options/comments?

We are on Octopus Agile and Agile Outgoing; likewise, I look at the daily Agile rates and set up my Powerwall charging times and if the sun is likely to be very shy, I set up the Eddi to charge the Sunamp Thermino for a few of the cheapest hours. As our demand is low, we can afford to let the Sunamp ‘go without’ if the weather is gloomy and prices are relatively high, we can charge the Sunamp the next day then. Lately the sun has started to put in a few hours a day and our 8.1 kWp solar PV has done us proud - it has managed to charge the Powerwall, charge the Sunamp heat battery and run the Daikin ASHP for some hours too. 😊 I did write to Octopus, but as yet, there is not a ‘download, install and forget app for the Powerwall to take advantage of the Agile daily updates (though Eddi has this facility and I have used that by dictating the maximum pence I am prepared to pay - it then looks up the rates and then shows the times when it can supply power to my Sunamp in compliance with my Scrooge-like demands!)
I am currently waiting to hear from Homely as to whether my Daikin EDLA ASHP is compatible with the Homely smart thermostat/controller. Has anyone here used one of these units? I understand that the Homely knows about Agile rates too. Regards, Toodles
