Air-to-air heat pumps - best models and installers
For those of us who have already decided that we want an air-air unit rather than the air-water units that are much more common in this country, I'd like to see somewhere to discuss the choices available. What are the best models, and particularly which are the best installers for this type of heat pump in each area?
Great topic to raise, @djh… air-to-air systems are definitely under-discussed relative to their air-to-water cousins, so hopefully this thread can become a useful resource.
The main players worth looking at in the UK market are: Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, LG, Samsung and Panasonic.
On the installer side, this is genuinely the trickier question, as A2A installation is regulated differently to A2W because installers need F-Gas certification.
I’ll see if I can ID some reputable installers.

@ashp-bobba, do I remember correctly that you install A2As?

Yes, thats correct, AAC Group actually stands for Ashford Air Conditioning Group Ltd. The company has been doing AC for over 20 years and it is over 70% of what we do. I personally have been doing AC for 34 year all the way from when AC units were more like refrigeration units with good old mechanical expansion valves.
I have worked on systems that ranging from 1.5kW typical split types systems to 5000kW in chilled water tech, although they are air to water they are still designed like AC systems for sky scrapers and alike.

Are you creating a whole new category for A2A?
