JamesPa RE: Starting Our Heat Pump Journey: 1962 build 3 bed detached house

By JamesPa, 6 days ago

And that is the whole point really. The ofgem standard house (medium) consumes 11.5MWh of gas per year so is well less than 7kW. The fact it's the ofgem standard tells you are lots and lots of them....
JamesPa RE: Vaillant service impasse

By JamesPa, 6 days ago

I'm not sure why you would want to make it more difficult for busy people to respond which sending it by snail mail does.   By all means do both (saying that this is what you have done) but email...
bobflux RE: Starting Our Heat Pump Journey: 1962 build 3 bed detached house

By bobflux, 6 days ago

Mine only complains if flow is catastrophically low, otherwise it simply works at higher deltaT, up to 10°C or even 20°C, with a corresponding drop in efficiency of course. But it runs fine, so if you...
JamesPa RE: Heat Pump Books For Beginners: The Ultimate Guide to Heat Pumps, Bodge Buster, From Zero To Heat Pump Hero & Britain's Heat Pump Shitshow

By JamesPa, 6 days ago

Hmm, not so sure personally about the title. Who is it aimed at? Presumably not those who want a heat pump because the title doesn't include 'and how to avoid it'. Is it aimed at people who have al...
JamesPa RE: Starting Our Heat Pump Journey: 1962 build 3 bed detached house

By JamesPa, 6 days ago

Yes and yes, although I haven't seen many here which are down to this, so I wouldn't count it as a top failure mode based on what we see here. Most installers would, I hope, catch this when they commi...

RE: Mitsubishi Ecodan FTC6 settings

By F1p, 6 days ago

I was just replying when i saw your edit drop in! 🙂   The default behaviour after any power loss is the Ecodan will run a hot water cycle - i suspect it was this which started.
Mars RE: Heat Pump Books For Beginners: The Ultimate Guide to Heat Pumps, Bodge Buster, From Zero To Heat Pump Hero & Britain's Heat Pump Shitshow

By Mars, 6 days ago

The circus surrounding the heat pump journey is at the centre of my new book, Britain’s Heat Pump Shitshow: How Installing a Heating System Became a National Nervous Breakdown. It is not an attack on ...
RE: Mitsubishi Ecodan FTC6 settings

By Clockworks, 6 days ago

OK, I bought one of the dongles q couple of weeks ago, finally fitted it this morning. Powered up the FTC6, and was a bit surprised that the heatpump fired right up, despite the Mitsubishi remote stat...
JamesPa RE: Wood burner with ASHP - direct air?

By JamesPa, 6 days ago

@lucia FWIW installed a woodburner some years ago. The combustion air is drawn from the underfloorboard space through a vent near the burner. I cant feel a draught (because the burner itself is pr...
downfield RE: Vaillant service impasse

By downfield, 6 days ago

I would say definitely by registered snail mail. Emails are easy to ignore but a registered letter addressed to the CEO or equivalent senior person would need to be signed for and is much more likely ...
