Hi everyone, my wife has a concern that should anything happen to me, she says she will be stuffed as far as the pump, tank and battery are concerned.

Currently not installed but survey this coming week with IMS.

Question

Is it possible to have battery tariff monitored

also a different company for monitoring the heat pump?

My energy optimiser

Havenwise

Adiathermal

so all the bases are covered for her.

She's shown no interest in getting the installation, apart from one question, " if the house is a constant 21°c in every room, will you stop telling me to shut the doors?"

Thanks

Kevin.

All our doors are left open and with an even temperature of 22.5 degrees C everywhere, this works very well for us. Warm Regards, Toodles.

I'll assume @toodles  is referring to physical doors rather than cyber security doors on his heat-pump and storage battery monitoring.

@browntrout very few heat pump systems are monitored by anyone other than the pump manufacturer.
They usually require this as part of their warranty.

However, it seems odd to me that most installers tend to visit the site if the customer later reports a problem.
That suggests they do not retain access to monitored heat-pump data.
So they can't (or won't?) log in to check the status, even though that would be easier/quicker than attending on site.

Look around this Forum and you'll also notice that Members reporting problems are rarely able to copy here the relevant data.
Instead they type it in when someone else asks them for specific information.

Overall, the monitoring isn't providing what's really in the interests of customers and those here trying to assist.

I could say the same for Smart Meters and their IHDs.

We're living in a world which is increasingly described as 'smart' but fails to achieve what's useful for us mere mortals.

Is it possible to have battery tariff monitored

Could you expand on that please?

Are you thinking of

  • the charge/discharge and solar-input data being available to you from the inverter which connects to the battery?
  • the electricity consumption tariff which you've agreed with your chosen Supplier?

or a combination of the two?

Please don't assume you need to respond with any depth of technical insight.

Just say in plain English what you're wanting!

Indeed I am referring to hinged panels that are handy and the right size to close off a gaping hole in a wall.

Regarding the monitoring of heat pump performance; I don’t think Homely is unique in having the features to allow both the maker (EverGreen in this instance) and the installer of the heat pump access to all the data. In Homely’s case, it is the installer’s Dashboard that some RHH readers have gained access to to monitor their own systems. Regards, Toodles.

I was wondering about Homely, @toodles

But I'm assuming that it's more commonly implemented by technically-aware heat pump owners,
rather than those who arrive here seeking help.

Even so, for the benefit of @browntrout can you please say whether Homely permits the homeowner to (temporarily) set up another user-ID
and thereby allow a remote 3rd-party to log in across the internet and check status?

If so, then Kevin might be able to configure that,
knowing that his wife would then be able to send the link to someone here in the event of 'something happening to him' 🤔

@transparent Sorry, but I don’t know the answer to that one. Homely are very helpful on their technical support so it might be an idea for Kevin @browntrout to enquire about third party access. Regards, Toodles.

@transparent ,thanks for the reply,I'm just wondering how such as a  Havenwise system would react if they set up the heatpump monitoring and my energy optimiser was set up to charge and discharge the battery on a Octopus tariff, wether they would have a software clash, I'm pretty sure I could manage it on my own , after all I've come this far, just that the wife is worried that she wouldn't know what to do if anything happened to me.

I would like to know that  I could make it foolproof for her if anything was to happen.
