Bathroom Radiator replacement
I need to replace a 600 x 1200 double panel radiator as it leeks a little with a vertical towel and heat radiator . How do I compare an old radiator to this , is it by the amount of BTU'S they emit ?
Thats the main consideration. You need to calculate btu or kW at your design flow temperature and compare with the room heat loss. Towel rails emit very little heat so you are unlikely to match the output of a panel radiator.Posted by: @alfapatI need to replace a 600 x 1200 double panel radiator as it leeks a little with a vertical towel and heat radiator . 4kW peak of solar PV since 2011; EV and a 1930s house which has been partially renovated to improve its efficiency. 7kW Vaillant heat pump.
OK , Thanks James, can the btu's be calculated from the existing Radiator as it was measured to size for that room initially.
By the way I have a plumber / heat engineer the create a volumizer out of buffer and remove excess pumps and sort the pipework , at last!

Yes. Just find any radiator catalogue eg myson or stelrad and look it up. This will give you W at a DT of 50C between flow temp and room. To convert to W at whatever your design ft is, use output proportional to DT raised to the power 1.3.
Alternatively you can just look for another rad with the same output at DT50, but you are unlikely to find a towel rail that does this.

@rob-nezard can you please offer your professional advice on this subject?
