@tim441 That's so true about doing things differently with more knowledge. But, I am glad I discovered this community before we installed our ASHP. Lots could go wrong there and glad I had enough knowledge to ask the right questions and get the right setup for our hearing needs.
You have got an impressive setup there with around 7000 kWh annual output. I am tempted to get a garden bar (pergola essentially with tiki bar features) and put panels with microinverters. Our DNO said that has to be another application but don't see a reason why they won't approve. That would be perfectly south facing, so could generate a decent chunk. This additional output could take us down 3/4 in terms of grid import if we look at the whole year, from 4000 kWh to 1000 kWh.

Identical to May, up on the June output and a touch up on last year. Here in the NW it was warm but not as hot as the rest of England. My son is in St Andrews and I don’t think it went over 25C there.
One of the many advantages of living in the North!
@chandykris we too have ashp. Bad initial setup but fine now with weather compensation. We have EV too...
Imports/exports get a bit exaggerated by forced charge/discharge of batteries. But doing less now export dropped to 12p.
Approx usage annually
ASHP 5800kwh
EV 2500kwh
Other maybe around 2000kwh
We are contemplating adding aircon. Especially as supported by cheap overnight imports and summer solar
Last year we had an exceptional net bill of zero. Helped by export rates 15p. But very happy if we can target say £1000 pa bills inc all heating and ev etc

@tim441 Our annual usage is about 3000 kWh for the heat pump, 1300 kWh for the EV and about 3500 for other household. I tend not to discharge from the battery unless there's a savings session. Overall we are totalling about £750 for an all electric house including EV. We are on Octopus Go, as neither our charger nor the EV is compatible with IOG.
We are looking to get aircon installed too, as don't think we can go through next year like this. But, the mini portable split units are all sold out and installers are booked out. Maybe, will try again when we get to cooler months and people would have forgotten about these heatwaves!

Fwiw... our July in Somerset was consistently sunny for most of the month.
The GivEnergy app does not tell full story on exports as there was more from the other inverter + forced exports. So total exports nearer 1150kwh

Is your intent to cool the whole house for the entire summer for example keeping it at 20C 24/7. Or just to use it for the occasional hot night?
Not sure I’d fancy having to keep all the windows shut all summer and all winter, unless I lived in a city centre or next to a major road.
@papahuhu Only couple of bedrooms and potentially one downstairs living room. The other downstairs open plan living dining kitchen has far too much glazing, so no point cooling that room and we can live without cooling the upstairs living room.
This would be used only during a heatwave. I want one living room cooled as well so that we can work from that room. We can't live with windows shut, as we don't have the city centre or road traffic problem.

Being able to keep the windows shut will be an attractive feature after a few years of regular wildfire pollution.
@toodles I assume you get used to the added complications that most of us take for granted. Is general public accessibility and support constantly improving through legislative changes/compliance, or is it now static? A couple of decades ago these matters were regularly in the news, but the issues don’t get much airtime now.
