Aircon is aka air to air heat pump so, as with air to water heat pumps, they're highly efficient. Getting 3x kwh out for each kwh in. Ehether heating or cooling 

So useful for aircon in summer  - especially if you have solar and/or batteries to fill at cheap overnight rates.

Aircon is also useful as heating in the shoulder months when your ashp may not really be needed. Even better with solar/batteries.

@papahuhu I think that accessibility issues go in waves, then poly tishuns get tired or change / money gets even tighter and things drop off again. Local buses are my mainstay but even those are threatened periodically and we have to fight again. Toodles.

Ours was the opposite, about 10% down on mean for August.

Finally won my battle with the insulation remediation firm that implemented my retrofit and getting SWIP internal room in roof insulation fitted tomorrow, on the main roof. I requested a trustmark audit and they confirmed the necessary remediation, free of charge. Going to be interesting to see what it does to my heatloss, Im hopeful it will bring the flow temp down a few degrees. The other roof I had similarly done resulted in me turning one of the 3 rads completely off. I didn’t know if it were better to leave the others fully open loop and close one, or back all of them off via the TRVs. 

Ours was okish, still did better than last year August. We generated a little over 500 kWh. But, with the savings sessions, free weekend electricity, we ended up with a negative bill. Not complaining!!

Possibly useful to look at 3 months Jun, Jul, Aug and compare with previous years

2024: 2239

2023: estimate 2140 including 15 day outage

More or less steady at 1Mwh for both 2025 and 2026….

Tim, do you mind if I ask how much power does your heat pump consume in a year please?I have a similarly sized 16kW unit and wonder if my annual consumption is atypical at 7MWh. It’s less than the 10 that was predicted by MCS calcs but it still feels a lot when Im trying torun it on the lean side of comfort.

100sq m is very old listed building

100 sq m is modern extension

First 2 years ran on fixed flows 55deg. After that weather compensation with aggressive low flows but main living areas 21deg. Other areas much cooler. Installed 2020. Exact monthly data from 2023
