Unscrew the plastic cap on the top and press down the brass plunger.
You may get a mixture of air and water before you see just water trickling out.

I've just been unscrewing the little plastic cap and air was coming out. didnt realise it plunged!!!

I have a AE080CXYDEK which was installed back in June and has been working well.

But I'm unsure whether it was 'working well' because it was relatively easy to push through enough energy when the outside temperature was high.

I don't suppose you know what the flow-rate was in July, for example?

@transparent also the circuit might work enough on DHW alone and was not set up for heating if this is the 1st winter?

@netdonkey is this system only 6 month old? 

If you you are well within your warranty and if it is not working they should attend and repair? I would just watch what they do to fix it and ask them to prove the flow rate.

So this pressure release valve, I unscrew the small cap and push down?

@ashp-bobba So there is the Evosta 3 and also a Grundfos UPM3 FLEX AS The Evosta3 is set to regulation mode 3 with constant curve

  and the Grundfos looks to be level/mode 2.  The green light on the bottom give a flash every second which is apparently normal

@netdonkey No pushing down needed, just unscrew little red plug and leave it open for a bit, the valve will automatically let air out as it arrives, if there is no air coming out then there is no air and nothing will come out.

Just to clarify 2 messages back, (sadly not) is your ref to not under warranty? but you are also confirming this is the 1st winter heating for this system? 

Assuming this system is less than 2 years old - All ASHP if done under the grant scheme or compliant with MCS / APHC /NICEIC / NAPIT / BESCA must have 2 years warranty and be under an insurance and consumer code scheme like HIES, the installer / manufactures must support you reasonably.

If you are unlucky that the installer went bust HIES or equiv will employ another specialist to support you under the insurance you paid, even if you don't know you paid said insurance, you did as its part of the costs and the installer should have discussed and detailed this to you as part of your contract under the consumers code.

@ashp-bobba So it was installed 6 months ago should still be covered but the installer was a solar guy who subbed the work out.  The initial design was done and certified using Daikin but he changed his mind and said he got a good deal on the Samsung

Whether you decide to manually release air from an 'automatic' valve rather depends on how much air is in the system, and what amount of exercise you want by revisiting valves in the attic.

Califfi is one of the better manufacturers.
This diagram of theirs shows the space taken up by the float within the casing.
It comes from their web page which discusses the risks of doing a manual air release.

@netdonkey Is the grundfos the higher pump or the lower pump near the floor?
