Odd noise in our Ideal Logic ASHP
So we've had a bumpy ride with our ASHP for the last 18 months. Now winter is here it's obviously on more and eating our electric at a unrealistic amount.
Last few nights it's been making a noise I can only say sounds like a helicopter. It didn't make this before ..it also used over £3 in electric from 12 midnight to around 1.30am and only one radiator was on.
We've recently had our loft insulated. I can tell the difference already as our home is normally very cold at this time of year.

These are well respected pumps so far as I know.
Only one radiator on sounds very wrong, this should never be allowed to happen and is almost bound to cause odd and loud noises, excessive consumption, and in the depths of winter possible freeze up and shut down.
Are all your emitters radiators, are they all on TRVs? If so open up all the TRVs and see if the noise goes away, then leave them fully open, set any thermostats at 2C above target and slowly (one degree per day) adjust the WC curve down until the house is at the right temperature. Can provide more detail if you tell us a bit more about the system and the house.
If its not this then its difficult to say what the problem is without actually hearing it, but for sure before going any further (or worrying about electricity consumption) you need to stop operating with only one radiator on and make sure that its set up so this doesn't happen.
if you haven't already read this introduction to heat pumps I suggest you do, it will give you some more background understanding
4kW peak of solar PV since 2011; EV and a 1930s house which has been partially renovated to improve its efficiency. 7kW Vaillant heat pump.

Should have all you radiators and control the load with the heat pump controller, already sound like you're microzoing to try and control.
It like driving s car, flat foot on the accelerator all the time, trying to control the speed with you're foot on brakes.

I love (and will use) that analogy!
