Posted by: @editorIs MelCloud a paid for service?
No, it's not. And, when working, it is built on a commendably accessible API insofar as Mitsi are well aware people use the underlying API separately from their Melcloud app and web portal and yet don't try to get in the way of that.

This is a serious problem if you cannot control your system remotely.
I have my own system that monitors and updates flow and uses a custom compensation curve. It is efficient but is dependent on having access to the Melcloud control interface. When the server goes down I am back to manually changing flows. Luckily, I am retired and at home all the time but what about those who are not?
Has anyone found a way of accessing the control interface directly? I.e. via wire, zigbee, etc.
The manufacturer could easily provide this rather than forcing people to go through the internet to a remote server.
I wonder if any of the systems available on the market allow this?

I agree. Just because it's not charged for does not make it a trivial consideration for Mitsubishi. They should be taking into account the fact their cloud offering was part of the buying choice for some consumers and therefore consider it an integral part of the product.

Yes, although I haven't done anything about it yet.
Mitsubishi provide quite a bit of system integration functionality so that installers can link the ASHP or aircon units to a building management system. More details are here.
Basically they sell two addon units; one for modbus and one for a wider range of comms. The modbus one is, unsurprisingly, the cheaper alternative but is still about £200 inc vat (e.g. here)

I've not experienced such a long outage in 4 years of using the system. In fact I only recall one other instance and that was resolved within hours.
@majordennisbloodnok Thanks for that. It's done me a power of good.
I shall look into it. I am not keen on opening up my controller box, though.
I put my software on an AWS server thinking it would easier to access and more robust than running a server in my home.
Who would have thought that the weak link was the Mitsubishi servers.
Altius in excremento.
Mitsubishi service update in the app now:
Dear MELCloud Customer, since Wednesday 17/04 the voice assistant integration and the MELCloud application connectivity are not working properly in some instances. Our software team is working to resolve this and we are confident that the service will resume to normal shortly. We apologise for any inconvenience that this is causing and thank those users who got in touch to inform us.
Well it appears my heat pump is now able to send data to Melcloud again. Let's see how long that lasts.
