Posted by: @steelbadgerI don't know how they did it, but there is an Aira on Heatpumpmonitor:
I think you can get any heat pump on OEM. You just need the external monitoring equipment as it bypasses the unit altogether.

@editor I have seen installation notes for Daikin (and I think Vaillant) ASHP’s whereby (presumably for H&S reasons) such retaining fasteners are recommended. Regards, Toodles.

@editor it's in the installation manual that they are chained to the wall to mitigate the risk of them tipping forward. My early install isn't chained, and I happy about that. Some people held the installers too the letter of the guidelines until they chained them up. personal the risk look very low on the single fan units. More of a point with the twin fan units I guess. Although they should provide mounting points on the back of the unit, if they want them chained. This is is an unsightly afterthought.
Really interesting @mikeh and @toodles. I'd never seen a ASHP unit chained back before. I guess it makes sense if they're 'lanky' and top heavy.

@mikeh And must make for awkwardness during servicing that requires access to the cabinet itself. This is not necessarily a problem for certain service engineers I have experienced of course 😉. I think that if there is any risk of toppling, the retainers should not need to be removed for servicing - unless of course, service engineers are two-a-penny and expendible. Regards, Toodles.

Posted by: @vsmith1My disappointment is with the app/data and access. The app has improved even with our 11 months usage. Though I contacted Aira to see if the was any API access - even read-only so I could see about getting the data into anything, such as Home assistant. Or whether Aira had plans for a HA access route. Unfortunately not. Not even an export and download data option. I am now considering getting a Shelly EM with CT clamp to measure the total electricity usage and feed that into HA.
I have seen there is an integration for getting the Aira and HA to communicate via BLE.
https://github.com/Invy55/ha-airahome
I haven’t looked into it too much but it seems that, if your HA box is too far away from the heat pump then you could use a BLE to MQTT gateway. I don’t know if that sounds like too much hassle for you or a workable possibility but I mention it so you’re aware.
If it did work out, though, that’d be local management of the heat pump with Aira’s app as an alternative rather than you being forces to do things Aira’s way.

@mikeh I wanted to install the Open Energy Monitoring system onto our unit at my cost when it was being installed in August 2024, but Aira HQ in Sweden refused, saying that it would invalidate my 25yr warranty

Wow! I will raise that with Aira. Who said that to you? One of their reps or account handlers?

@trungdong It is on my list of things to do during the Christmas break. I was going to ring/email their customer service and check. If I remember correctly, the installers mentioned that there isn't much service to do and they will show how to clean the magnetic filter as that's something for the homeowner to do. But they didn't, so need to find it.

I’d be interested in the reply. I don’t see how that could be either enforceable or legal. Monitoring doesn’t affect the operation of the heat pump in any way nor amend Aira’s product at all.

@editor Here is how Daikin recommend for one method of stabilisation; this is from the Daikin Installation Manual. Toodles.

Though, in itself, I can see it representing a trip hazard! Toodles.
