Grade-A boiler manufacturer with an interesting brief
We occasionally undertake UGC (User Generated Content) video projects for brands, primarily to create product testimonials. These are then used as advertisements on platforms like Instagram and YouTube. Recently, one of the agencies we collaborate with presented us with a brief from a boiler manufacturer. Although we chose not to accept the project, I did review the brief, which included a script. Notably, under the product direction section, it contained this notable instruction: 'You can include fake, but plausible details if necessary.

That phrase describes almost every advert that I have ever seen, either in print, on telly or online. Online is particularly vulnerable to shilling and downright fabrication, so is it any wonder that we read so many people, on this forum alone, who are dissatisfied with the product they have been sold.
I wouldn't just let that go @editor
The Agency ought to be challenged on ethical grounds for having passed that onward to you for comment.
Apart from the ethics, have they not considered the damage that could do to the product and the manufacturer's name.
Anyone like you who received that request, could now release that information online, thereby naming and shaming the brand.
The correct procedure should now be for the Agency to discard all comments about that product which have already been received.
Those opinions cannot be trusted.
They may then choose to restart the process, or they could tell the manufacturer that they aren't prepared to provide the UGC service for them.
It depends whether the "You can include fake, but plausible details" comment was written by the manufacturer or the agency.

This unfortunately is the World in which we live. Not all manufacturers design and produce goods of good quality, since it is not necessary if they can convince consumers to buy their products by whatever means available.
British industry has gradually diminished because we used to make good quality goods that were designed to last, then others copied the designs, and manufactured to lower quality but cheaper price.
As the saying goes, "You get what you pay for".
I couldn't be happier with the build quality, price and performance of my Chinese heat pump... I genuinely believe the commercial refrigeration controller they built it around (Italian) to be superior to most others on the market.
