@papahuhu Likewise, the main ‘extra’ relates to TOU tariff implementation; the system is ramped up by a degree or more prior to the expensive times of the tariff. As I prefer a constant temperature 24/7 and have energy storage via the 27 kWh’s of Powerwall, the Smart+ had nothing to offer me really. Regards, Toodles.

For Powerwall calibration, avoid forcing repeated deep cycles just to chase the displayed SOC. Let Tesla’s own calibration logic run, check firmware, reserve and TOU settings, and compare app SOC with measured energy over several cycles. Persistent drift or unusual shutdowns should go to the installer or Tesla support.
Off topic (slightly) - i use the basic Net Zero app and the Octopus ‘Utility rate plan’ is managed by the app. Is there any advantage/disadvantage using the PW2 app to connect to, and manage, the rate plan?

@davesoa I use the Tesla Utility Rate Plan to hold my Cosy settings; in common with other PW2/3 users, I have exaggerated the import/export disparity so as to leave no doubt or woolyness between the rates. As I only use the 8 cheapest Cosy hours (Super Off Peak) and shun the more ‘spensive times, even the Off Peak rate is set as though it is more expensive than it actually is. My DHW is supplied by a Sunamp Thermino system and there is a MyEnergi Eddi set to only charge during those same 8 hours (should it be needed, perhaps due to low solar energy). This works for us; our heat pump will be working for it’s living again soon and that is then on 24/7 but the battery supplies the necessary during the other 16 more costly tariff times.
The ‘Basic’ NetZero app does not (as far as I am aware) provide the controlling functions required but they are available with the subscription version. Regards, Toodles.

@davesoa Are you using NetZero as a newish user; when I first installed it, the full facility was available - then they introduced the idea of a trial period after which the Pro version was obtained but monthly/yearly subscription. It looks as though your PW2 is still under control of NetZero at present. Regards, Toodles.

@toodles I’ve been using the free version for some years and my PW2 utility rate is under it’s control. I’ve not had any problems but was idly wondering whether to let Tesla control the rate plan and whether that conferred any advantage/disadvantage.

I am 100% sure that net zero is not controlling your PW2. It is monitoring the performance but it is not acting upon it in any way, unless your are paying a subscription that you are not aware of.
I am 100% sure you are correct. What Net Zero seemed to be doing was setting the IOG schedule and rates using the Octopus API. I’ve now used the Tesla app to connect my PW2 directly to my Octopus account and Net Zero is grumbling that my API has gone awry.

@davesoa In a way, NetZero is probably an excellent way to carry out the intricacies of TOU tariffs but, I couldn’t justify the monthly cost as it would not save me even half the fee with it’s intelligence. Regards, Toodles.
