@technogeek

Thankfully no issues with the app here either (Gen3).
Hopefully the software arm of GE can survive.

Thanks for posting your experiences on this - it may point to me having a local issue, more digging required and less ranting and doom and gloom then!@

Thanks to @technogeek @kevh @robert  for your updates which prompted me to dig deeper into my problem instead of just continuing to blame it on the Givenergy Administration. After some playing around today I realised (red face) that the issue was at my end and for some as yet unfathomable reason my inverter went offline early Thursday morning.

I was somewhat slow on the uptake, but eventually realised the issue this evening, but had it not been for you chaps confirming your systems were still OK I would probably still be under the impression that things had gone sour.

Fortunately I have managed to force it back on line with a persuader and vigorous Vulcan nerve pinches, albeit that it took a couple! I can now happily report that the app is now able to control the unit.

Pros: My Axle account will still work. Plus I have finally gotten round to actually setting up a Home Assistant Server that I have been dragging my feet on and confirmed that I can control the system with that, which gives me much more confidence going forward if GE are unable to be saved.

Cons: None of the above explains why the app wasn't able to control the inverter locally. Perhaps the device just got its underwear in a pickle, it has happened once before after a power incident so maybe there was a short lived spike in the system, who knows.

@jostar We had something very similar happen on the same day. Our system suddenly stopped responding and then came back after a bit of coaxing. No idea whether it was a tiny power blip or just the inverter having a moment, but it’s reassuring to know we weren’t the only ones.

@jostar

Given the circumstances I think most folk would have drawn the same conclusions.

Happy the you are back online albeit you can't figure out what happened.

@dean-royston thanks for the link to EVMan - I  do subscribe to his channel but hadn't seen that.

Reassuring to me and reading between the lines I think they are very aware of the need to keep the software side going - so hopefully the administrator will be able to find a home for it.

I use My Energy Optimiser and that uses the APIs remotely and all has continued to work as normal so far.

Had my system installed Dec 2023 and all good and very happy until there was a software update on the 5th Nov 2025. My system has not been functioning correctly since 5th November, when it was updated and recommissioned. Since then, it has stopped charging overnight and has gradually lost charge while sitting in an idle state. I contacted support, and after three months, an engineer was finally sent out in January. Prior to the visit, they reviewed the system remotely via the portal but did not provide any explanation of the issue, despite me requesting this via email in case it was something I could resolve myself (e.g. with a reset). During the visit, the engineer reset the system and updated the firmware but reported that they could not find any faults with the inverter or battery - I found this suspicious but figured he knows more than me so let it pass to my regret. I was told the system was now working and that it would be monitored for a few weeks to make sure, with a follow-up if necessary. However, just three days later, the same issue occurred: the system stopped charging overnight and became stuck in idle mode again. Any settings I apply via the web app or phone are ignored. As a result, the battery has now been sitting in my loft, unused and uncharged, for almost six months. Since then, I have had no meaningful response from support. I have left multiple messages through the phone system (via the AI assistant) and replied to my existing email thread and ticket but have received no reply for 3 Months or resolution. I contacted my installer as well at this time and they have been helpful but say they think its a software issue and I could reset and see if everything comes back.

I powered down and powered up my system and it tripped the PV = which is also off now no power to the PV inviter which I think means the Givenergy inverter has found a fault and isolated - but there is no tripped fuse in the inverter and if I press the reset button nothing happens
 - so probably the fault is with the Inverter they think.

So not only do I have no battery but I've no solar now either. The wifi is visible on my network and I can manually connect and see the setting and reboot etc, but that its now showing as offline in the PC portal and App on my phone. My installer took a look remotely but there was no connection - and we went through the wifi dongle reset process - I managed to reset, and connect to the inverter AIO and see this in the portal for "5 minutes" on Tuesday but strangely the Portal could not recognize my AIO and my Serial was registering as XXXXXXX and the portal kicked it off and would not reconnect ( I can repeat this process - connecting for a few minuets before the portal stops me from doing so) I can reset but its not connecting to the cloud anymore, but I read online that few people are having cloud connection issues, so I'm now not sure if its the case with my system too.

My Installer thinks its a software issue and is chasing givenergy on a WhatsApp installer group he says,  but has not got any further as of Friday 10/04/26, I'm on the latest firmware.
Ive also contacted my installer again Friday afternoon when I heard the news that they are going into administration - who was giving me the same advice as on this forum, that it might resolve - he's trying to get in contact with them to find a solution. Any advice ?

Keep trying with your installer since he’s at least aware of what is happening. At some point you might need to discuss with your installer changing to another manufacturer of inverter to at least get your panels working again.

Whether your battery can ever be resuscitated after being flat for so long is another question. But none of us are expecting any warranty cover any longer. Your situation is particularly unfortunate, since you quite reasonably expected the engineer visit to fix things and it to stay fixed.

@johndwyer Just to mention something that helped me when I had issues with my own system, I used an AI assistant to look at screenshots and guide me through things step by step. It didn’t fix anything directly, but it really helped me understand what was going on and what to try next. In my case, after a few hours working through different aspects, it actually got sorted. Might be useful as an extra tool alongside the advice here.

Thanks for your advice - I'll keep trying with the installer and give it a go with AI. I'll keep you posted as to how I get on.
