(I didn’t know you could now import tariffs, does that mean I could automate Agile without the need to use a third party app, if I wanted to?) sorry, nothing to do with toodles woes.

@papahuhu I think so, yes, but best check with other Agile users. I think it supports Agile Outgoing too.

When you select Octopus as your Utility Rate Provider, it asks you to log into your Octopus account and pulls through the Tariff information I think. I only tried the feature once then I stopped using it, because you lose the ability to manually edit the tariff to manipulate it / get it to behave in the way you want. But I imagine it's great for those who just want to set their tariff once and forget about it, and the app will then pull through any rate changes from Octopus automatically.

Samsung 12kW gen6 ASHP with 50L volumiser and all new large radiators. 7.2kWp solar (south facing), Tesla PW3 (13.5kW)
Solar generation completely offsets ASHP usage annually. We no longer burn ~1600L of kerosene annually.

@old_scientist The plot thickens… As you will see, I accepted the Octopus Cosy part of the setup.

But change rate plan assumes a blanket change! I note that you mention the Octopus logon business - I did this and now realise that perhaps ALL SETTINGS need to be manual rather than the OE’s default Cosy import. I will have to see if it will allow manual control of Import and Export - Ho HUM. Toodles.

Yes, you will need to switch back to manual setup of your ToU tariff.

In the right hand image, select Set Up Custom Rate Plan at the bottom - that should allow you to set up an old fashioned rate plan manually, like you had 12 months ago.

I called mine something like Octopus Cosy Manual so I knew it was something I'd set up manually 🙂

@old_scientist I wonder if the reason I’m not seeing the AI work as I’d have expected is that I did all my tariff entry manually? Swings and roundabouts.

@old_scientist All set now - calling it “Manual” as this may all change if and when OE offer NU-IOF+ or VPP or NU-Axel etc.😉 I had clean forgotten the settings procedure I used to employ; now re-instated, including a ‘Peak’ slot that is ready to adjust daily (sigh) for saving sessions as per your suggestion. I phoned OE this morning and for some inexplicable reason, though I was set up for saving session still, the toggle to send me notifications was off - now corrected so look forward to SS notifications! @toodles Success should be savoured in this vile weather, opportune moment to crack open an ice cold beer and pop the Philip Glass on the gramophone.

@papahuhu Or in my case, a large glass of fruit drink with added water and ice (diabetic type 2) and maybe some Bach, Beethoven or Sibelius. Nothing against Mr. Glass but just don’t happen to have bought any of his works (hypnotic though they can be!)😉 Toodles.

@toodles He’s certainly guilty of taking a great formula and milking it to death in later years, the expat Russian Jews have an innate habit and a talent for doing that.

Thought I’d try and persuade you that youd likely be so much better off with flux than cosy. This screenshot is cosy vs flux, the last 2 days on flux.

Glad you got it sorted!

When I was running Cosy, I simplified Cosy to just two rates - the 3 cheap periods (Off Peak) and everything else expensive (Peak) as I either wanted to be running on grid and charging, or not. I suspect you are the same has you have sufficient battery capacity to run entirely on cheap rate. The third rate (even more expensive) made no sense and just had the potential to confuse the Tesla AI so I preferred my simplified model.

@papahuhu No, it should make absolutely no difference. It's just the method of entering your ToU tariff rates into the app. Either entered manually, or allow the app to automatically import them from your utility provider. But either way, it's just two different methods of providing the same information to the Tesla App (AI). What the app then does with that data is all on the Tesla AI.

If it's obvious (to you) what the outcome should be, you can exaggerate the pricing to help steer the AI to the outcome you expect. When I was running Cosy, I knew my battery was large enough (just) that we could manage only on cheap rate import and charging, so I set the rates as 15p buy at cheap rate and £2.00 buy price the rest of the time - IOW, do not even think about importing electricity other than at cheap rate, and it behaved as expected. Sell price was the flat 15p SEG. Flux is a little more complicated though, and it's harder to know if you need to charge during the cheap overnight rate or not, depending on tomorrow's usage and how much solar there may be. If you are not going to micromanage it on a daily basis, you are probably wise to just let it do it's thing and see where you end up.

@old_scientist Yes, that is how I organise my import too. 8 hours at the lowest rate to charge 27 kWh of battery works very well. Regards, Toodles.

@papahuhu Do you mean ‘Outgoing’ versus Flux there please? My cosy tariff applies to import rather than export. Regards, Toodles.
