Posted by: @ashp-bobba@netdonkey Primary pump should run as follows:
Heating demand on
DHW demand on
Defrost demand on
Secondary pump should run as follows:
Heating demand on
Defrost demand on (only of the volume of the buffer is not enough for the min volume for the ASHP to defrost)
Primary pump runs as described above. Secondary pump is constantly on until DHW is activated
@netdonkey so you may find the pump is wired through the 3 port switch so when sitting in heating mode but the demand is off the pump runs all the time but when switched to DHW it switches off as the movement of the 3 port would break the 3 port switch, if so this would be the wrong way to wire, your wire centre with the ASHP should have electrical connections for the primary and secondary pump set, you should also be able to dip switch or programme the ASHP so it knows if you are using a buffer or just 3 port valve, this way the ASHP will know if to just run one or 2 pumps and when. Not all ASHP are exactly the same and I don't know all of them but most are very simular.

Just heard back from Samsung and there is a software upgrade that will fix this logic so the secondary pump isnt always running.

Is that upgrade applied automatically over-the-air to all Samsung units?
Or does it require the householder or installer to do something?
Save energy... recycle electrons!
Sheesh! Ash him/her how many sites they have to visit to implement the firmware change.
... and why they couldn't devise a system to do this remotely.
Yes, it might need the homeowner to authorise the upgrade within the App,
and it might need to be undertaken within a time-window in order to prevent hackers attempting such a route in future.
But we already have such functionality on the UK Smart Meter system, and that was designed a decade ago.

@netdonkey could this be a first for Samsung? 😂 They do have a habit of charging for visits. I’m curious to see whether it’s an actual Samsung engineer or one of their many agents handling the call-out.
But fully agree in you maximising the visit and getting as much as info as you can out them. Looking forward to the update.
