@saf1973 Will do. Foolishly, I paid most of the money, not realising quite how problematic the install was. A different installer has taken a prelimary look and said they'd strip it right back and reinstall afresh; unfortunately, they're so busy I haven't been able to pin them down to do a full report, so am stuck for the moment. Very good luck with resolving yours - it's so disappointing when we invest (not only financially) so taking the plunge.
@julianc Ah, that makes sense with the RHI cut off (I haven't applied because my MCS certificate hasn't been supplied; one of many issues arising...!). I'll take a look at Ecobubi. Thanks so much.
@zoomuno being in the industry and understanding the way it’s run is also depressing.. buyers of heat pumps are not the only ones taken for a ride
whats needed is a bit of investigative reporting…

@alec-morrow It really is. Kicking myself for being taken in by a master salesman who I suspect (like too many others) has jumped on a bandwagon and is letting down scrupulous installers. Heard recently from a professional trade body that substandard heat pump installations are becoming a majority of their complaints and they expect this to increase further...
@zoomuno you need to know it is not easy to get decent training, and even decent support.
i rang vaillant for instructions about something they said look on the web, i said i had, then he looked and said he couldn’t find them so tried to email them. but the vaillant server couldn’t send me the 20page document because it is too big.
this is why a lot of installers give up and don’t care

@alec-morrow perhaps @editor could use the weight of this site and home farm to try and encourage the BBC and others to kick off a public investigation.
Retrofitted 11.2kw Mitsubishi Ecodan to new radiators commissioned November 2021.
14 x 500w Monocrystalline solar panels.
2 ESS Smile G3 10.1 batteries.
ESS Smile G3 5kw inverter.

An investigation into what Morgan?

As per the suggestion by @alec-morrow five posts up.

the industry is not fit for purpose as many are finding out.
do people really think north european countries in the EU put up with end users wondering if weather compensation is a good idea?
i don’t think people realise how they are being taken for a ride..

Does @editor want this discussion here in this topic?
I'm very new here. But if someone knows how to start a new topic like "Educating the public on energy matters" and can move the above comments into it, then I'd like to respond there please. 🙂
If this happens, please tag me so I know where to go!
Save energy... recycle electrons!
@transparent the reason this doesn’t happen is that those advising government have stakes in it not happening. BEIS does consult the industry extensively but the people advising are almost all on payroll from companies outside the UK. And the U.K. consumes big time in heating and the foreign owned manufacturers love our ignorance as we spend more with them
Professional installer
@transparent, I've moved some of the conversation to this existing topic about installers and installations which is more on topic. If your response is more about electricity, you can start a "Educating the public on energy matters" thread in the electricity providers forum if you'd like.
