Mitsubishi Ecodan 14kW ASHP costing £450-£550 per month to run
Derek - you are absolutely NOT wasting your time ! Please keep helping us make our systems more efficient and we will get our energy usage down. Agreed, people quote cost rather than kWh, I suppose because money is more tangible than energy.
Posted by: @derek-mI suspect, though I cannot prove it, that the western governments are allowing energy costs to increase, and will continue to do so. In doing so they hope it will eventually convince an unwilling population to start to reduce their energy consumption, before it becomes too late for all of us.
An interesting thought Derek, but I suspect you're bestowing too much credit and intellect on the powers-that-be to come up with such a creative solution given that they're all popularist politicians now.
I do, however, think that it's up to all of us to shed our energy usage as much as we can and as often as we can. Not only is it reducing carbon emissions, its saving money.
We used to be really bad with leaving lights on, and smart plugs (and LED bulbs) have really helped us cut our electricity usage. The previous owner put in over 45 down lights in our main living areas and each one was a 50-60W halogen bulb. When the lights were on, our metre used to whiz around around like crazy. Now with LED bulbs our downstairs lighting has become extremely efficient. Small things.

Thank you for the vote of confidence. Don't worry I do not give up easily and will continue to help and support where possible, though time constraints may mean that I will need to be more selective, and help the more deserving cases.
Several recent posts claiming excessive costs due to ASHP usage, would appear to be due to other factors.
