Came across this report this morning - All housing types are suitable for heat pumps, finds Electrification of Heat project

An interesting read: https://es.catapult.org.uk/news/electrification-of-heat-trial-finds-heat-pumps-suitable-for-all-housing-types/

I was looking at this report the other day. All housing types *may* be suitable (if high bills can be ameliorated in some way for some properties perhaps by additional solar?) but not all types of pump are suitable for every house 😊 I'm interested in particular of course in how the high temp pumps fair in new builds, given they were not previously recommended.

@saz, this has been my 'argument' for quite some time. A Victorian Grade II listed hall we leave near has recently been purchased and they're renovating it. Being Grade listed, they won't be permitted to put in double glazed windows for example, and the ornate work of the wall panelling will make it difficult to insulate the walls. A ground source heat pump might be an effective way of heating it, but if they went air source, even a HT unit, it could theoretically heat the property, but the inefficiencies would be significant and the consequent running costs would be astronomical.
