Posted by: @agentgeorge... What i deduce from all the comments in this forum is that hardly any installation has been setup. Mine by Octopus was just a simple spec, fit and forget. I had no instructions how to set it up, just a call us if there is a ln issue.
I feel sorry for those people who have it installed under default commissioning or minimum setup, which seems to be the norm not just for Octopus, as the handover is definitely related to the "amount of time remaining on site". Mine was handed over in about 10mins at 5:30pm on a Friday when the guys still had 3 more hours of work left (and still failed to finish - it required a separate visit over a week later to complete the job.)
The issue is that having a good design and good installation is only two-thirds of the job: it absolutely requires tuning once in and only the householder can do that because of the time duration it takes. This is never explained, nor are householders given the information or tools needed to do the job, nor on-site support when it is needed as opposed to when in the next week or so some engineer can visit. It's sites like this that help but not everyone has the wherewithal to do this.
All installers need a "flying squad" who visit daily over the next couple of weeks to dial it in and visit at the first cold snap to ensure it is working correctly and is efficiently set up. And pigs might fly! Bit tongue in cheek that as it's clearly not cost effective. IIRC Mars said he was going to do a video on this topic.
@kevh you cant change the 50C on a Cosy install, if you try, it will let you type 45, then you get a red warning that 50 is minimum.
i wonder if you can change the point 50C temp to -20C so that changes the slope on the WC curve.
Thoughts anyone?

See my graph in response to @kevh. It may be possible in the hub to set a temp lower than -10c, I've not tried, but the returns really diminish altering that end of the curve. At this point, changing the warm temp end has a bigger impact on lower the flow temp in the typical cold weather temps.
Posted by: @andrewjYou can see from the graph, that the warm end adjustment can have a big impact on the curve, so just changing to 34c might be enough of an experiment. In any case, only change one thing at a time and wait a few days
My thinking too, thanks. I tend to agree with your thoughts on how the WC maps out too. I have read that to access the hub you press the top button for 5 seconds, and await the wifi SSID showing however having tried this I get a Bluetooth connection instead..and advice would be appreciated.

Totally agree. My install team were great, however the handover was literally 'it's all in the app, here is our number' and off they went.
I watched a Heat Geek chap yesterday describe how he visits a week later to listen to the user perspective, then he teaks away accordingly...and repeat until the user is happy. This should be standard practice surely.

Press and hold until the light turns blue, not flashing. Then open your phone/tablet settings and look for the cosy hub wifi and connect to that. Navigate to 192.168.1.1 (I think, perhaps the last digit is zero). When done, press and hold the button until the light goes white. You can't use the app when the hub is in wifi mode.

Well this is weird.
I was nodding in agreement as I read this, decided to look in the app to 'try' to input 45c (but knowing that I could not) and lo and behold the high end of the WC now spans 45c to 70c. In the app!! I'll swear this was 50-70 just this morning!!
Am I going mad? Dreaming perhaps? Did TJ really tell us today that a Cosy can modulate below 30c? I must have entered a parallel universe today...

Thank you. Much appreciated.
@kevh they certainly have updated the App to allow 45C, you can see the screen grab I di a few days ago shows 50C as the lowest.
I’ve changed mine to 45C, don’t want the UFH to get too warm.
will monitor the COP see if its affected, were expecting sub zero temps in a weeks time.
