Domestic Weather station
Hello,
Im thinking of buying a weather station, something along the lines of this:

Has anyone got a station if so which and what do you think of it.
Regards,
Michael.
ASHP. It’s all to do with Specific Enthalpy.
If I purchased one, might I expect to have more sunshine each day and less destructive wind?😉 Regards, Toodles.

I've had a Davis Vantage Vue for 11 years. It's had two problems: After a few months the rain gauge stopped working, which must have been a bad batch as I was quickly sent a replacement sensor board. Then, after about 9 years the humidity sensor started producing dubious data. A new sensor board (everything is integrated on it) cost about £10 less than a complete new weather station (without the indoor console) so I opted for the latter. After the rain measurement problem noted above I also bought a cheap plastic rain gauge to provide a reality check on the automatic equipment.
Then, out of curiosity, I fitted a much cheaper weather station alongside the Davis. I've got through several of these as they usually start giving problems after two or three years. My current device is: https://amzn.to/41wGYHK.
I've found that the thermal shielding on the less expensive devices isn't as good as the Davis and they all give higher temperatures on a sunny day.
@maxthedog we have the Netatmo Weather Station with the add ons (rain gauge and anemometer): https://amzn.to/4hRtuvH
It's been pretty good, but you need a robust outdoor WiFi signal for it to work. Three years on, the outdoor sensor is working well, but the anemometer and rain gauge have taken a pounding and stopped working this winter.

Indoor and outdoor units have their own radio frequency links. My Vantage Vue originally came with a memory board in the indoor console which I would interrogate via USB. It now has a WiFi board (ie optional extra) which gets real time data onto the www. The cheaper station I linked to above includes WiFi (not all do) and is quite easy to configure to get data onto the www.

I have used a Bresser 7 https://www.bresseruk.com/p/bresser-wi-fi-clearview-weather-station-with-7-in-1-sensor-7002586 for 4 years. Very impressed with only one malfunction. The rain gauge stopped giving sensible output which turned out to be a leaf caught in the collection bucket!
