Air Conditioning in Cars - What is this doing for the Climate?
Some years ago I remember getting into someone’s (petrol driven) car and them switching on the ‘Climate Control’ system. Now, when I think about that, I can’t help feeling there is something oxymoronic about that! Toodles.

Fwiw when I switch in the a/c. in my EV the range as predicted by the car drops about 10%
4kW peak of solar PV since 2011; EV and a 1930s house which has been partially renovated to improve its efficiency. 7kW Vaillant heat pump.
@jamespa And with any choice, I take it that will be consuming renewable resources to charge the EV. Of course, years back, the source was almost bound to have been fossil fuel driven. I thought the choice of name, ‘Climate Control’ was about as contra intuitive as could be. Regards, Toodles.

In fairness, my EV has a heat pump in it which is theoretically more efficient, and any time we need the cooling we're also driving on sunshine so the impact is minimised.
I can't help but remember, though, about the comedian John Bishop noticing that it was possible to get a ten degree difference between passenger's and driver's seats and positing that he and his wife could probably create a fog bank between them. My wife and I can at least be acquitted on that count.
