We have a Synology NAS

Me too, another brilliant piece of kit.  Mine has sat in my home office since 2013, quietly doing its thing.   One disk replacement needed (which it rebuilds automatically if you have RAID enabled), magic.  If only all consumer electronics were like these two products!

4kW peak of solar PV since 2011; EV and a 1930s house which has been partially renovated to improve its efficiency. 7kW Vaillant heat pump.

There´s obviously a pattern here with VM being the last provider most of us had!

Appalling when anyone just walks off without explaining anything. We used to have two locations to plug the VM hub, but one of the outcomes of our last VM visit was to unplug the second unused one. I managed to get the technician to leave the possibility of connecting it via the external box, but that was all.

In trying to have SIP working as a landline, I was tempted by the capabilities of a Fritz!box like the one @jamespa has.

In the end, simplicity won it. 😀

The Panasonic dect phones are still usable, so I am just getting a Linksys Sipura spa-3000 VoIP Adapter. The plan is to use it to terminate the localphone "landline" SIP (which costs under a pound a month to maintain) and then just plug the panasonic basestation...

I am hoping it will be relatively straightforward to configure, but it seems to have a few other features to play with...

8kW Solis S6-EH1P8K-L-PLUS hybrid inverter; G99: 8kw export; 16kWh Seplos Fogstar battery; Ohme Home Pro EV charger; 100Amp head, HA lab on mini PC

So the linksys worked well, we recovered our landline. It was just a matter of configuring and plugging the basestation onto the phone rj11 port.

@batpred I tried one of those type of adaptors on our phones a couple of years ago , I think it was called a grandstream, it would work intermittently. The ISP couldn’t determine the fault and they removed it and changed the router to one which had a direct phone socket. That worked better, but the line would always drop out after 10 mins, which is annoying if you are calling customer service. That’s why I wanted to upgrade to an IP phone.

Ah good point. Perhaps I will need to make those long test calls, which will probably be the longest they will be put through! The main use of the DECT phones will probably be to reach family whenever their mobiles are forgotten on silent..
