@toodles must be a PW2 thing, I understand the 2 versions use different battery chemistry.
Im semi intentionally abusing my battery, it gets 3 full cycles as part of using cosy in the winter so I figure I may as well go for broke and work it hard in the summer too for a warranty claim. I estimate it will drop below 80% after 8 years.
I saw mention of that optimised charging in an update release a few months back, but I've also never seen it in action on my PW3 - it always fully charges to 100% same as it's always done.
What @papahuhu says makes sense - it could be a PW2 thing to help extend the life of the battery, but they do not feel it necessary on PW3. Maybe Elon was getting too many warranty claims on PW2?
My battery gets one full cycle (0% -> 100% -> 0%) every day in summer on Flux. When on Cosy, it's more variable. Warmer days probably don't even see one full cycle (13.5kWh throughput), whereas the very coldest days may see 2.5 cycles (~34kWh). Over the course of a full year I doubt I'm much over one cycle per day - maybe 400 cycles max. At that rate I'm well under the 6,000 cycles other manufacturers suggest, and I feel I'm working my battery reasonably hard.
Before I switched onto Flux at the end of June, my battery was only getting down to 70-75% before solar was charging it back up again, so essentially it was permanently sat between 75-100%, exactly what Tesla suggest isn't ideal from their optimised charging update! So I'm not concerned at fully cycling the battery each day on Flux - it's what it was designed to do, and it's what I bought it for - the less I use it, the longer the payback period.

Can't say I disagree, @toodles. Given most households use around half that there's definitely a good case for a bit of investigating. Given you include DHW and my figures exclude that, I can understand if you're in the 10-15 kWh bracket but to get to around 20 kWh it feels like you're supporting the whole of the WI with cake-baking.

rR@majordennisbloodnok Well, the daily average for July was actually ~ 14.6 - so not quite so bad! Though there is the odd day where ~ 18 kWh has been consumed. Those were the days when I thought you were coming - so I baked a cake!😳

I concur. Our two person household average is 12.5kWh. It was closer to 10kWh but has increased since getting our Powerwall3. I wonder what two PW2's add to @toodles daily usage, they could be adding as much as 5kWh per day to the usage figures, which would make @toodles daily average of 14.6 bang on the money.

Looking at the PW trace, there’s a larger than typical cyclic base load. My money would be on a refrigeration compressor, either a massive one or a prehistoric unit.
There’s a lot of power being used mid day, if it’s not the sun amp water heating device then it’s indicative of a daily pig roast!
@papahuhu Both a freezer and a fridge freezer and I cook for lunch at approx. 13:00 each day. Normally, the Sunamp will kick in when the PW stops drawing the solar energy. With the Tesla Optimised Charging regime, it will charge, stop, charge again, stop… Regards, Toodles.
