The gas supply that was!
Somewhere or other in this forum, I reported the removal of our gas meter a little over two years ago; at that time, we still had vestiges of gas piping outside the house.
In the last few weeks we have had I&G working in the area renewing gas pipes; I contacted the SGN customer assistance line to request that the residual pipework and old meter housing be removed. Well, this morning the pipework has been cut short so as to be below ground level with the remaing pipe being capped off; they also removed the other remaining bits of iron and coppermongery, along with the meter housing and earth bond wiring. The wall is now clean and tidy (they even took a brush and rag to the wall and scrubbed away cobwebs and accumulated grime. All is now clean and tidy; they are making notes on the database (which apparently contained scant information until very recently!) Job complete and well done and tidy! Regards, Toodles.

Not an issue for us as there is no mains gas in our village despite an LNG terminal just down the road and a major 1m diameter gas main for the LNG passing a few hundred yards from the house.
But it's nice to know you (and us) are saving £120/year standing charge. I wonder if folks remember to factor that in that saving when calculating the costs of switching to an ASHP - that's £2400 saving over the 20 year lifespan of an ASHP.
Samsung 12kW gen6 ASHP with 50L volumiser and all new large radiators. 7.2kWp solar (south facing), Tesla PW3 (13.5kW)
Solar generation completely offsets ASHP usage annually. We no longer burn ~1600L of kerosene annually.

It's a timely reminder to people to check, @old_scientist. As a guess, though, I'd expect that most people will be looking at the size of their monthly bill as a whole rather than the reduction of unit cost as the saving in their spreadsheet so I suspect it's already factored in for the majority. Also, don't forget that many with a gas boiler will also have a gas cooker and will intend to retain the gas supply for that in at least the short to medium term future.

Reminds me of when I moved here, no mains gas despite a large mains pipe nearby, someone reminded me it wasn't just a matter of drilling a couple of hole in the pipe and jamming a couple of hoses in to get a gas supply here.
Midea 14kW (for now...) ASHP heating both building and DHW
@cathoderay Years ago (40+) I enquired about moving our gas meter from an awkward position in the kitchen where the ‘fridge needed to be, to the other side of the wall where the coal bunker had been. Gas board whistled through their proverbial teeth and gave me a guesstimate of £600! The ‘fridge had to stand away from the wall ever after! Regards, Toodles.
