November Bills
Hi All,
I will getting my November bill from Octopus shortly (in the next day or two) so I'll be sharing on here my costs. I'll share how much it is total, how much comes at the 5p rate and how much on the 15p rate plus a blended costs.
I will also breakdown the cost per m2 of my house so people can compare costs. Of course total power bills wont be the same for everyone and our house has two small children so we use the washing machine and tumble drier every day. But given November is supposed to be 12% of your total yearly costs for heating (give or take) it should provide an interesting feed. I'll also share total kW used by the ASHP for the month too.
Sounds interesting. Looking forward to hearing more.

Just waiting on the full bill to appear, but I can see I used 1031.88 kW from the 21st of October to the 20th of November at a cost of £110.33
Cost per kW works out at 10.689p
Of course this is my whole bill for all power. I am tracking my ASHP, but not 20th - 20th. I am tracking monthly, so will have figures at the end of the month
below is the detailed breakdown of my use
Here is an extract from a cold, high use day
Currently I also have an issue with solar shading due to building work next door. Essentially my solar is making, maybe 1/4 of what it should be. So my batteries are more or less useless at the moment in the day.
@batalto My fix on Octopus Go is about to finish, the most of the replacement tariff is quite simply staggering.
@witchcraft, what’s the new tariff likely to be? Around 21p/kWh?

@editor Much worse than that! This is with a loyal customer discount, the basic GO tariff is worse
Day rate | 29.36p per kWh |
Night rate | 15.36p per kWh |
Standing charge | 24.10p per day |
Heat pump used 1,012kw for the whole month: Avg: 33.7kw per day or 3.8kw per m2 of floor space for the whole month
@witchcraft I just had a look at the current GO tariff to see what it is:
Night (00:30 - 04:30) - 5p/kw
Rest of the day: 24.14p/kw
Standing: 18.35p per day
As a note, I am in the south.
@witchcraft, that is a massive increase. I've been following the developments in energy circles and recent saw that if it had not been for the price cap, many energy providers would be charging upwards of 40p/kWh to be profitable. It's a very unfortunate situation for heat pump owners.

@batalto Yup I am in Suffolk and was on 5p off peak 14p peak. If you look on Octopus as a customer there are no other options (including Agile) I strongly got the feeling they're are not looking for new customers at the moment
