I have a question about installing one unit to cool several rooms. I'm aware that the size of an air conditioning unit is largely based on the size of the space being cooled or heated.

 

If an internal unit was placed in say a hallway with specific room doors left open, so that the space the unit cools matches the units capacity will it cool the rooms effectively? And therefore, if you then wanted to cool a different area you just make sure that you close the doors to one room and open others?

 

I know this will not work perfectly in regards to the flow of air and if its heating this may rise to the upper floor etc but in terms of value for money, can this work if you buy a single split unit with a large capacity?
