A couple of weeks ago the MyVaillant Controller had a red light error and now many nights around 11pm UK time it does the same. It’s a problem because Havenwise then can’t talk to it to make adjustments.

I can tell from UniFi and pinging from Home Assistant that the controller is still connected to the network.

I then installed the Home Assistant HACS extension for Vaillant and it shows the controller permanently disconnected. So I can’t detect any outage that way. I was thinking I could put switch power off/on if I could detect it’s offline. I may have to get an ebus adapter to read the controller directly.

I raised a ticket via Vaillant technical support on their website and they said raise a ticket via the app. I have done so and so far they have asked me to reconnect the controller via WiFi. I did that but it’s happened again tonight. I wonder if it happens at exactly 11pm as that would be midnight in Europe.

It’s been working for four months and it suddenly starts misbehaving. The controller is connected to a 2.4Ghz only WiFi that is set to IoT mode with a fixed IP for the controller. Havenwise has been used all this time.

Has anyone seen this before or got any ideas? I have to remember to power off/on the controller every night at the moment.

Sadly, if the gateway is still responding to pings on the network then I suspect there’s little to do. However, is it perhaps worth plugging the gateway into a smart socket simply to power it off and on again at about 11pm every night? I know it might sometimes be unnecessary, but do you feel you have to detect it’s down before restarting it?

Obviously a bit of a cludge but worth a thought.

Thanks. Yes, if the time is consistently 11pm every night, then my plan was to use a smart socket to power off/on every night. I have my phone alarm set to remind me to check at 11pm to see if it happens exactly then.
