@papahuhu Over and (hopefully) done with now. 3 hernias in 8 years is enough for me! Cause unknown though; was on waiting list and had been instructed to ‘Call 111’ if things became acute. They did, I did and I feel a great deal better now! Regards, and thanks for everyone’s concern for me, Toodles.

@toodles So they did a hernia repair? I am surprised, they generally don’t.
My Dad has a hernia the size of a watermelon on his side and providing it doesn’t twist they won’t touch it.

  • @papahuhu Yes, three keyhole incisions (one somewhat close to the battle site of the oldest (umbilical) hernia. Sheets of mesh were glued in strategic positions to reinforce the lining. At this point, the removals team get busy and rearrange everything. No follow up required! Relief, Toodles.

@papahuhu Not sure about that as such but, born in 1947 with jaundice, had double pneumonia as an infant when the doctor advised my mother not to expect me to still be alive the next morning - and I have been defying the medics ever since! Regards, Toodles.

@toodles

Quite often it’s the ones that have to fight to survive at a young age that seem to last longest. My father in law was born 4 months prematurely at a time when you had negligible chance of survival, half the size of his 5 brothers. He outlived every one of them by 10 years and counting. Both brain and body seem to develop in a different way if under duress in their formative years. The survival rate of transplanted seedlings significantly improves if they are hardened off before transplantation.

@agentgeorge I want one that does that too!
Did the smart meter data tally with the inverter for the whole day ie was just a transient blip? Or have you created the first free energy system!

@toodles I was going to ask, what do you do with your homely when you’ve decided the heating season has finished please. Do you turn off the heating setting or crank the set point right down or just leave it on? I’ve got antifreeze valves that I understand activates at about 5C, I’d rather not have the system dump all the heating system fluid if there was a freaky cold night in spring. Or I’d have to replace the inhibitor.

@papahuhu Generally, I leave Homely to take care of matters until the spring has really settled in and then use the option on Homely app for ‘Hot Water only (not that I have any hot water circuit plumbed as I have a Thermino heat battery to take care of the DHW). My Daikin has antifreeze valves to look after any untoward weather during my heating off season though. Regards, Toodles.
