New 14.3 kWp + 30kwh battery incoming.
So our residential setup is a bit different to most as we have a small 60sqm holiday let in our grounds which is fed off the same supply and meter. And it’s hard to control how much electric guests use!
last year in the depths of winter, with a (badly tuned) ASHP running and panel rads in the holiday let we. Oils use 130kWh of electric in a day.
So to help keep the prices lower we went out to get some batteries. With the intention of charging up off peak using Octopus Go at 8.25p
In this scenario obviously the more the better but it’s making them cost effective and not doing nothing in summer.
so we settled on 30kWh of batteries. After asking for over 20 quotes we got 3 back! Thankfully a local company look good so we’ve gone with them
With the VAT being a few grand, we then decided we may as well add some solar and pay 0% VAT. We already have 9KwP on the holiday let which works for both that and the house and now we’re adding just over 5kWp to the house.
So it should be a rather nice system. Overall it will be:
9.1kwp East/Weat array
8kW Solis 3 ph inverter
5.2kWp south facing array
10kW hybrid Sunsynk 3ph Inverter
30kWh Sunsynk BYD batteries.
plus
2x Eddi
1x Zappi
1x 14kW Ecodan
We also swapped the panel radiator in the main kitchen:lounge in the holiday let with a 2.5Kw Mitsubishi Air to Air unit. Which is working great for heating. So far the thirsty panel radiators in the bedroom haven’t even been plugged in!
hoping for install of the new solar and batteries in the next couple of weeks. Hopefully the extra solar will help with the autumn/winter/spring output.
250sqm house. 30kWh Sunsynk/Pylontech battery system. 14kWp solar. Ecodan 14kW. BMW iX.
Have you not considered installing a separate electricity meter in the holiday let, with a clause that any usage above a certain amount will be added to the bill?
