The Changing Jet Stream Could Challenge UK Air Source Heat Pumps
Posted by: @rob-of-york£7.5k is a great deal of your own money to be spending on switching from gas to an A2W heat pump when your income is a pension of £13k a year. Particularly as it is unlikely that you'd see a reduction in running costs.
According to organisations that commissioned studies on this, like the energy saving trust, a2w heat pumps are cheaper to operate than a boiler.
I also agree that, for most households, if they get a battery and a suitable tou tariff, they will have a home warmed throughout the day and for a lower cost.
The gov is also shifting the burden if paying for gas to the ones that use it most. Hopefully the link from a boiler to ccs storage if resulting emissions will be made soon and then the pressure to switch due to bigger savings will increase..
