We have a 1-bedroom, 840 sq ft duplex flat that was converted from an office, the top floor is complete new build is well insulated and has good double glazing. It was converted in 2016.

The flat was fitted with a Kingspan air source heat pump system. Unfortunately, the Assembly control box GMC and the Ass. The control box inverter PCB have failed, and we cannot obtain a replacement. These are discontinued.

Maybe someone here knows where we can get replacements?

The engineer who has repaired the other flats' Air-source heat pumps in the block has said that if we need to buy a new unit, we should buy a Vaillant aroTHERM.

We’re unsure which Kw model to purchase. Whilst the flat was highly specified in terms of fittings, we are unsure about some of the choices. For example, some flats are 1500 sq ft, but our flat was fitted with the biggest Air-source heat pump system - 15 kW.

I've read that having an overspec unit can shorten its lifespan. Also, checking online, my calculations are something 3-5Kw.

Can anyone advise which Kw we buy?

Any recommendations?

We want to ensure we install a reasonably good model, but want to spend as little as possible.

This is a painful replacement, we have limited funds

Also, I assume that by replacing the heat pump, we can keep the existing system?

And a lower Kw Pump won't affect this.

Any help will be much appreciated

thank you

Mike
