Here’s a picture of the controller for an Ecodan ASHP. It’s not mine; it belongs to a friend.

When I was at his house six months ago, I noticed that the installer had left it on a fixed flow temperature of 50°C (insane!). I told him I’d switch it to weather compensation, as it should be much more efficient.

He called me recently to say that the heating wasn’t working. I switched it back to fixed flow just to make sure that the problem wasn’t caused by the changes I’d made.

I’ve attached a picture of the screen. I’ve set it to a fixed flow temperature of 40°C. The hot water works without any problems, but when we turn on the thermostat, the heat pump doesn’t start.

Can anyone spot anything on the screen that might be preventing the heat pump from starting?

If it’s easier, feel free to PM me and we can have a chat over the phone. I’ve already tried a few things, so I’d really appreciate any help. Thanks in advance!

From the symbols on the screen i see no schedule set to prohibit it, so the demand for heat may be coming from an external 3rd party thermostat wired in or Mitsi room controller?

@f1p that is what I thought. He has 9 thermostats huge house. Some rooms massive galss so very diffrent heat needs all over the house. I will tey to turn them all off then one by one see if any of them start the pump. I think they are all wired in. I will find that out cant remember what make is it.

@andris there is only one "IN1" connector on the ecodan to create demand
I see it's a single zone setup, so it may be all 9 go to a heatmiser or similar and then any combination of demand creates an on/off to the ecodan

The pause symbol is showing it's sitting Idle anyway, suggesting no demand was active at the moment of the photo
