@editor The EmonPi unit is plugged into the mains and the other items are plugged in to the EmonPi.

Ive attached an image of my heatmeter, the grey wire coming up is connected to a USB to modbus adapter like this DSD TECH SH-U10 USB to RS485 Converter for Modbus: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories and then into my EmonPi. It was a bit fiddle to get the data from the heatmeter, but thats because I was bolting it onto a previously bought emonPi rather than buying the heat pump monitoring kit
