Vaillant ASHP Weather Compensation with Octopus Cosy
Hi all,
I've been looking at tariffs with Octopus (currently on Fixed 12M) and the Octopus Compare app suggests it might be better for me to go onto the Cosy tariff.
I've got a Vaillant ASHP with weather compensation and it's been keeping the house at a pretty constant 20 degrees, with a heat curve of 0.65. If I did go onto Cosy I'd want to set it so the heat pump bought the temperature up a bit higher and then didn't go on at all between 4-7pm when the cost is high. Can that be done while still using weather compensation? I understood that if it's using weather compensation it ignores any other settings so any changes I made to the time control operation mode in the settings wouldn't make any difference, and there's not even a thermostat on the unit to know how how the house is.
Is that right, and is there anyway I can have the heat pump off between 4-7pm, or even at a setback temp?
In the Vaillant app go to Settings (the cog wheel icon) > Control > Heating > Weekly planner and put in a temperature below the setback value for the period 16:00 to 19:00.
Your Sensocomfort is the thermostat and it does work as one in partnership with the WC curve. In expanded mode it switches off once the room is above the value selected.
2kW + Growatt & 4kW +Sunnyboy PV on south-facing roof Solar thermal. 9.5kWh Givenergy battery with AC3. MVHR. Vaillant 7kW ASHP (very pleased with SCOP >4) open system operating on WC
